Has anyone else experienced a issue with getting a runny nose easily post op?  I know it's cold here, but i'm like a faucet all the time now.

Since surgery, my nose has been the signal that my pouch is full. I don't understand it, but when I am full, my nose runs.

The Vagus nerve (with a "U" I'm told!) is a very complicated nerve that I feel was invented by God to confound medical students.

It is used by the WLS community because stretching/contractions of your pouch when eating (doesn't matter if its RNY, Vert. or a band) sends messages to the brain that you are full.

That's why you should eat slowly and mindfully... not like I did last night when I swallowed chicken too fast so I could answer someone at dinner and got slimmed.

The nerve has branches everywhere including the mucous membranes in the throat and nose.
I assume that you get runny noses for that reason.

Or maybe its allergies. What do I know?

Thanks for the info. I can now finally understand this strange phenomenon.

By the way, when Don reads this, I expect he'll mention that he thought only girls had a vagus nerve. (Sorry, Don.)

For me usually early on I would get a runny nose or the hiccups when my pouch was full.  Do not take another bite!!

Thanks for posting this. I thought my runny nose was an allergy problem. I have never had this problem until this year.

Agree with the others. My runny nose is associated with a full pouch.

Sorry should've been more specific, I total get the same running nose when either i have a full pouch or eat to fast, but It's seems I get  it all times of the day even when I haven't ate anything for hours.
