Lost another 2 pounds this week which I'm very happy with. I only made it to the gym 3 times this week but each of those times was for a 25 minute run on my c25K training. That means that week 7 of my c25K program is complete and I am on to 28 minute runs next week. I have been running without a problem and am feeling really strong. It is truly amazing and I am really begin to enjoy the running. My food intake has been good and I have been eating farily well, getting in my protein and drinking appropriately. Doing well with this new lifestyle!
Wanted to share something that I am now pursuing that at 500+ pounds I wanted to pursue but just didn't have it in me mentally and physically. I attended a Graduate Open House at Boston University yesterday and am likely going to begin pursuing my Masters Degree in Computer Science in the spring (while still working full time). My company will pay for this so there really is no excuse to not do it now. I have been wanting to do this for fifteen years but could just never bring myself to do it and made every excuse in the book. Now is the time and I am very excited about being able to finally begin pursuing this dream. Just one more example of what WLS surgery has allowed me to do.
The world is my oyster!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all and remember Mindful Eating on Thanksgiving.

Lost one pound this week and I'll take it. Meal portions have been in control and being super busy at work and home has kept the grazing to a minimum. Busy has also prevented me from getting to the gym more than I would like, but my 2 daughters have started to attend with me and it motivates me to see them interested in staying healthy and fit. I am hoping it will establish a long-term pattern of choosing a better lifestyle.
Had to go shopping again- the jeans I bought 6 weeks ago are starting to hang already and my belt is not holding them up. Some sweat shirts and nice sweaters and a dress shirt for Thanksgiving. (Size L)
Now for the bad news: ATTENTION NEWBIES- I experienced my first major dumping episode last night. I dumped on 2 glasses of pinot grigio (white wine), it was undoubtedly the sugar in the alcohol.
I was at the neighbor's house visiting, and I have had a glass or 2 in the past no problems. Not so this time. About 10 minutes after I got home, all the symptoms I've heard about kicked in. It was f@#^ing horrible! Dizzy, cold sweats- wrenching dry heaves-all in 20 minute cycles for about 2 hours. Then exhaustion and bed. I may as well have downed the whole bottle myself in 2 minutes because that is what it felt like I did. I did not think I was a dumper but I found out the hard way. So be careful- I'm only 4+ months out and have had no problems until last night. Needless to say, hopefully that's not going to happen again because I will be paying closer attention to what I am doing regarding intake choices. I don't ever want to feel like that again. Thank God I was at home when it happened or someone might have called an ambulance-it was that bad. Just sayin'...

It's been another good couple weeks. Been kicking ass in darts 3 straight tourney wins even with bad draws, guess its really helping not carrying all the extra weight around. Excited for the holidays and to see some of my realitives from out of state tonight for my birthday dinner that I haven't seen in years. I know that my eating isn't perfect and I still enjoy a little absolut, but staying mindful about what I'm putting in my body and staying away from the sugars and startches must be working.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

For some reason, a long week at work. But, I made it through. I need to adjust my thinking to the earlier darkness, I think. I feel like I am at work late every day since it's dark so early. I need to get motivated to maybe do a bike ride early morning before work. But I am a "slow riser," I need some time in the morning to get moving.
Here's to a great holiday for all....remember it is the turkey that is supposed to be stuffed and not you.

Hi Guys!
When I weighed this morning I kinda was upset with myself. I started thinking the way I used to think and beating myself up about not losing enough weight. What the heck was I thinking!!! I lost two more pounds this week- that's awesome. I am grateful for the loss of those two pounds and I worked to lose them. I guess I'm just trying to say that none of us should let ourselves get back into our old ways of thinking. This is our new life, our second chance, and we should celebrate every tiny victory!!
OK- I'm off my soap box now. I visited my surgeon on Thursday and he is pleased. I did heave yesterday morning after eating some scrambled eggs, curse you eggs. I will try them again in a month or so and see what happens. I still get most of my protein from shakes, cheeses, yogurts, and nuts. Those are about the only things that don't make me sick. I'm certainly not complaining though. I am so much stronger and healthier right now than in the past. I even bought a 2X shirt at Costco for $10. They sure charge a lot less for smaller shirts. Another fart was slipping into a size 44 Levi and getting rid of the 48's.
I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!

Pretty boring week this week. Jsut worked, gymed, and slept. Having trouble sleeping for some reason... I go to bed at 10-ish like normal, but for some reason, instead of sleeping all the way until my alarm goes off between 6 and 7, I have been waking up (completely rested) between 330 and 430... Then I just have to try to force myself to nap off and on until the alarm goes off. Dunno why, but haven't really been tired or anything so I don't guess it really matters.
Other than that, wore my new 48's yesterday... retired the 52 pants that were falling off of me. Bought the new 48's (Levis) at Burlington Coat Factory last weekend for $17.00... HOLY CRAP!!!! The 52's that I just retired cost me $50 at Casual Male. Another blessing of being thinner. Clothes are getting much cheaper. I told my wife, I am worried that I am going to become a clothes and shoe ***** when I get to where I can buy anything I want, instead of what fits... HA!
Have a great Thanksgiving guys! Hope your holiday is filled with mindful eating and great memories with family and friends.
