Sunday Morning Weigh In (Post Halloween Edition)

For both Mike and Bill.  One thing that would break a stall for me...Hard physical work.  For some reason exercise would not do it...My body would hold onto the weight.  But when I did physical projects around the house...shrubs, gutter, cleaning the car or truck outm the weight would drop.  Some of it (I think) was using muscles I hadn't used for awhile.  Just a theory...

Thanks.  I want to build a deck for my portable shed anyway so looks like I found what I am doing next weekend!!  Cool!

What a week!  Halloween was fun.  I was able to resist the urge to eat the candy AT ALL!  That is a real first.  Nothing what-so-ever!

Been having to do some shopping lately.  Getting to the point where I can't wear most of my clothes anymore, and having to buy new dress shoes for work.  They have gotten so loose that they "clap" when I walk.  Haven't found the ones I wanat yet, but working on it.  About to head out today for some more shopping.

Mike - WOW!  That is awesome!  Very happy for you, and just think of the fun you and your daughter will have together now that you would not have had the energy/mobility to do before WLS!!!  I am proud for you!!!  Don't let the stall bother you.  Several vets on here told me before surgery to measure at least every month, if not weekly to cover that.  I have been measuring every sunday when I do my weigh-in and found that when I have stalled, I lose inches during that time.  Very interesting to track it like that, and definately helped keep my spirits up.  (Though I luckily haven't had a stall as long as you are experiencing yet)

Everyone else - Thanks for the inspiring stories.  It helps keep me on track when times get tough for me.  I really look forward to Sunday mornings when I get to catch up with all of ya'll!!!

Later, LOSERS!  I am off to shop some more, without lower back and foot pain!!!!

Thanks Charlie.  Once again, great job with the big numbers!!!  I can totally relate to the baggy clothes syndrome.  It is amazing.  You reminded me that I walked the entire Halloween night without even missing a beat.  I went up to every door with my girls and outlasted both of them.  I could have kept going but they were pooped!  Good idea about measuring.  I haven't done so for a few months and I'm sure I'll be pleasantly surprised.  Have fun shopping and chat soon!

I'm down 3.8 lbs this week. Hard to believe. I am eating pretty much what I want. I think the key is that I don't want the same stuff I wanted before. And I certainly don't want the same quantity. I've been getting in to wine. Been drinking a glass maybe three times a week with no negative impact on the weight. I'm enjoying trying to learn wines, but frustrated by it at the same time. My palate has never been extra discerning, but I'm trying.

Bought the bike I've been threatening to buy. I'm not to expert level by any means, but enjoying it. Need to find someone to ride with, and more time to do it.

Mike, stay the course. You're looking good, and in the grand scheme of things these few weeks of stall are nothing to worry about.

Congrats all on the progress this week. Have a good week.

Thanks Ken.  Have fun with the new bike.  I haven't ridden a bike in years and look forward to getting back in the saddle in the spring!!

Weight seems to be holding steady. During the week I see a 2-3 lbs fluctuation but it always ends up about the same place on the weekend. Guess this is where my body is the most comfortable and I’m not complaining.

Mike, your picture looks great. Even though you’re in a stall I’m sure the inches are changing. I just can’t believe what you’ve accomplished in such a short time.

I had a great fart this week when I went to a meeting with our customer. Parking is tough at their place and I could only find a place on the 5th floor of the parking garage. Walking down the stair wasn’t a problem. After the meeting I was amazed at how easy it was to actually bound up the 5 flights without getting winded or having knee pain. I really did bound / run up the stairs – something I could never have done before surgery.

I’ve recently been transferred to a new work location and many of these people had never seen me before surgery. In fact, they often comment that they can't imagine me overweight. I took in a couple pictures this week and the look on their face was unbelievable. It’s so great to have people say they can’t imagine me being overweight. It made my day.

I also was in a clothing store and noticed they had a great sale on sport coats (normally $150 and reduced to $65). Didn't think they'd have something my size but actually found a couple that fit like a comfortable glove. Needless to say I bought them both. I've gone from a size 58 extra long to a size 44 long. I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that I can now buy off the rack instead of having to special order cloths.

High Weight = 310     Surgery Weight = 300   Dr's Goal = 200   My Goal = 190

I am still in disbelief when I look at the scale... I weigh myself like four or five times just to make sure the thing is really working lol...
