Taste... everything is bland?

The only thing I "like" the taste of at the moment is Sugar Free popcicles, but everything else seems to be really bland / has no "taste?"

I can taste I guess but it is not really appealing..

Examples:
Meatloaf
Mac n Cheese
Dinty Moore Beef stew (12 grams of Protein, 11g fat, 2g sugar, thought it might be worth trying)

I have sampled each just a bit thinking, it would be nice for  a change to have something that "tastes" good and man, none of them really do anything for me.

Wendys Chili is "ok".. and I had a bit of A1 sauce on potato (1 teaspoon of tater) and that was ok.

It makes me wonder if it is a "strong" taste deal?

I read (searched) on the site about this and seen lots of posts from the ladies, just wondered about the guys.  Did it eventually come back or?

What I am "eating" right now is 30 grams of protein powder in Crystal Light drink (16oz) and doign that twice a day for 60 grams.  Plus just a little here and there, broiled whitefish twice this weekend, various beans, and just starting to get into protein bars.

Anything "good" you recommend!?  (Have not tried eggs for a couple weeks, had real issues with them)

The one thing I remember was how fat tasted gross...It still does to me.  Your tastes do change.  No one said you can't add different spices after a certain time after the healing.  Things like salsa and the A-1 like you tried (watch the sugar content in stuff) can work.  Below is a copy and paste I did about 6 months ago...Just some ideas.

Tuna, egg, chicken salads...With some non fat mayo, salt and pepper, and
Hard to find but well worth it the first few months...Go to their website for locations.
Other things... plain yogurt, cottagecheese, plain peanutbutter (peanuts and salt), a piece of lean turkey or chicken lunchen meat with a piece of string cheese wrapped in a dark green lettece leaf with a little mayo and mustard (chewed well)...Bon appetit

It takes a while to start liking the taste of food again.  I am at 8 1/2 months out from surgery and anything fatty really just doesn't do it for me.  I will not have anything more than a bite of fried foods.  I found that I eat more vegetables and healthier vegetables now.  I used to love Cape Cod Potato Chips and now I don't like them at all.  Which I guess is a very good thing.  One thing that I love now is Chobani Greek Yogurt (Pineapple and Strawberry Cheesecake are my favorite).  It may be a bit early for you to have the fruit flavored yogurts but the Vanilla should be fine and is really good once you realize how easy they are to eat and that they have a lot of protein.  I am also still a big fan of the EAS Myoplex Lite Chocolate Protein Shakes.  My go to meal on the run!

One other thing that just popped into my mind is that I now love flavored coffees (make sure they are not the syrupy sugary types at Dunkin's or other chains) where I used to despise them.

Well, good luck as you expirement and work your way through your newly discovered taste buds!!

I think one of my "issues" is really getting my head around how SMALL the pouch is!!  I saw a model at the doctors for the lapband and that really helped me to visualize how small the pouch really can be!  (I had RNY but same visual)

Yesterday I tried Subway Meatball for lunch, and they actually "tasted" pretty decent.  I had one meatball, and part of a 2nd one and was full / maybe a little too full and ended up losing most of it when I got back to the office.

So not sure if I am losing it due to overeating sizewise or if it was just too greasy, etc.  We got some Turkey meatballs at home for me to try with organic spagehtti sauce, will see!

Kashi cereal (low something or other series) with skim milk has actually gone down well in the last couple of evenings as snack.  About 1/2 cup of cereal and maybe the same in milk, letting it soak a bit to get really as soft as possible.  Nice part is 1 cup of each would be 17g of protein so I am getting 8ish with the 1/2 servings!

Gonna try that turkey rollout later this week as a snack, that would make something easy to eat "on the road" when I have to grab and go!

In many respects its not so much the lack of taste, but more you don't have that "empty" and I need to eat feeling.  Certain foods, high fat, sugary, just make ya quezzy and sick.  It's part of the psychological mind games stuff.  Use it while you can to your advantage to continue to loose as much as you can.

Eventually, you will find foods that taste good.  The key then is to find food you enjoy that is healthy and good for you.  Again, the whole key to success after WLS is using this "TOOL" to make a major lifestyle change.

Continue to focus on getting in your protein and your water.  That should never change.  As your activity and exercise levels increase and the the weight comes off, you will be able to eat more and will enjoy certain foods again.  That is when it becomes challenging again.  It is a continuous balancing of intake (food as fuel) and output (exercise).  The more you exercise, the more you can eat.  Again, just make sure you choose what is healthy.  Don't waste that small pouch realestate with CRAP!

Notice my signature line...

Good Luck and keep up the good work!

Eating junk food and CRAP is not a reward...it's a punishment...
