506.5: All time high 9/9/9 (WW start) - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11

332.8: This Week 10/16/11 --> 2.6 Pounds Lost  this week - BMI = 41.6
173.7: Total Weight Loss

Let me start off by saying that I feel good!   Both mentally and physically.  But you know what?  I really need to go get myself some pants that fit!!    There is just so much of folding over the waist band that I can do before I start to look like the teenagers with my pants around my ankles!!  I have blown through all of my old "skinny" sizes to a point where I don't have any old pants that I've worn at my current size.  Crazy considering I hardly ever got rid of clothes!!

Anyway, I digress, it has been another fantastic week and I have completed week two of the nine week C25K program.  I can see it getting harder.  I have been training on Mon, Wed, & Fri and then doing weight circuit training on Tues and Thurs.  I also walked for 30 minutes at lunch Mon - Thurs.  Didn't make Friday because I was travelling but that's ok and feel that I did a lot of exercise this week and the numbers on the scale show that.  i think that I have beaten back my stall and have lost 6.2 pounds in the past two weeks.  Feels really good!!   My diet has been good and I practice mindful eating religiously.

Not a whole lot to report this week as it was pretty much work, diet, exercise, homework with the girls and then repeat!!  Fairly easy week to stay on plan as I was too busy to do anything else!!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

You know I hadn't really paid attention to my ticker but just realized that it is a whole lot closer to the goal side than it is to the "Evil" side.  It is truly amazing and I can remember looking at that thing a year ago and saying how in the world will I ever do this and get that far.  But you know what, I am doing it.  This surgery has been truly amazing and life saving.  You all better look out when I get below that 300 lb mark as it will be a FART of historic proportions smelled around the Universe!!

Maintenance rolls onward. Although I am still closely watching what I eat, I've been able to add some variety to my menu. Actually, I kind of like being ale to "taste" something that I want rather than having it be "forbidden forever." I guess that I am fortunate that I am still easily satisfied with small portions. But, beyond that many of my old favorites like breads and pastas hold no real allure for me now.

I actually had a piece of pumpkin bread at Starbucks this week (and by the way, it was awesome). But, rather than as an appetizer, snack, or first of several pieces as it would have been before, it was a meal for me. I find myself happy that I am able to control the urges by using my version of Mike's "mindful eating" approach. I don't allow myself to succumb to sudden urges, but I need to plan out my intake and if I want a treat badly enough, prepare for it ahead of time.

Big day of working around the house planned or today. Have a good week, guys.

A nice 7 pound loss this week. I finally had a good week of walking, as it is the only exercise I am really cleared for at this point. I did 3 mile walks 4 times this week. It feels good to get out and do the work and I look forward to starting the C25K and to resume my "Your Shape: Fitness Evolved" workouts on the Xbox Kinect.

I had my 2 week follow up last Monday and both the surgeon and  Nut are happy with my progress thus far. I also went back to the office on Tuesday. The days were long but it was good to be back.

Morning guys! I'm up bright and early with a pleasant surprise on the scale this morning - 6 lbs. holy ****! I'ts been dragging for a couple of weeks and I knew it was going to happen but not as dramatically as this. I can't believe I'm 12 lbs from "onederland". I think the last time I looked like this was for a short period in the 80's when I worked on a commercial scallop boat out of New Bedford and was seasick all the time but still had to work my ass off. I was half my age, also.

I hear you about the clothes, Mike, I had to buy some jeans- it was ridiculous bunching up the waist with a stretchy belt to keep them from hitting the floor. But the jeans I bought three weeks ago are starting to slide down as well. WTF!

I received my lab results this week from my three month follow-up and my iron was low. I had bought some Celebrate iron +C with the last order of calcium and had just started to take one daily as a whim. I think I am getting to the stage of not needing chewables. The doc said I could stop with the Famotidine (antacid). I have had zero problems with any kind of food variety. I am scheduling my annual physical with myPCP in a couple of weeks and I will see how my cholesterol is doing. I've been off the Crestor (40 mg.) since surgery. I cut my BP meds in half and check regularly. I keep thinking of the gentleman at the support group I attended last month describing his stroke from his BP getting too low and not adjusting the meds.

More and more people have been seeing me for the first time in a while and more comments about how good I look. It's like being in a dream for something you've wished for for a long, long time and it's actually coming true! I wqas at my daughter's JV field hockey game yesterday and walked up and stood next to a female acquaintance I hadn't seen since last fall. She said hi to me and looked away- she didn't recognize me! Shortly afterward, someone told her it was me standing behind her and she looked at me with this shocked/ embarrased expression. She asked me if I was getting sick of that reaction and I said "Never!"

Well, the family and I are off to the Wellfleet Oysterfest today. It has always been an event for overindulgence but it looks like I will be saving some money on beer and fried stuff this year. I will attempt to sneak in an hour at the gym this morning before we head out.

Sorry about the long rant this week, I guess I am getting some value out of this support forum after all! See Ya.

Tim

Outstanding Tim and Corey on the big losses this week!

Running on vapors today.  Put in a 12-hour day yesterday due to us having had our typical small town annual "big event".  Lady friend got to see small town life at its finest.  Even subjected myself to public ridicule and tried dancing at the street dance.  Note to self - take dancing lessons!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Good morning All, I am seriously frustrated, i'm 11 months out and I haven't lost in over 3 months or so.  I have increased my protein, changed my workout routine.  Any other suggestions.  I just would really like to break the 200 mark, but no matter what i'm stuck at 203-205.    I know i didn't have as much to lose as some of the other guys, but has anyone else in my weight range have this problem?

You and I are in the same weight range and had surgery within a few weeks of each other. My doctor's goal weight for me was 200 lbs and my personal goal was 190 lbs.

I've had stalls before but don't remember them lasting more than 2-3 weeks. You seem to be doing the right stuff by increasing protein and changing your workout routine.

Are you tracking your food in-take daily with a journal? Perhaps reviewing your daily stats will help provide some clues. I still use myfitnesspal.com and it helps track the sodium, protein, etc. and it helped set daily goals. Perhaps something like that can help you identify the problem.

Have you increased your carb in-take? My clinic provided a very strict post-op diet. I just passed my 1-year post-op mark and I just barely started introducing pasta, bread, potatos, and similar starches back into my diet. But, I've only had stuff like that once every 8-10 days and I'm still mainly eating meats and salads.

Maybe your body needs a "shock". Have you considered going back on a liquid diet for a few days? Not sure that will help but it might be worth a try.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Hello, thanks for those tips.  I need to seriously pay the Nut a visit.  One thing i may me messing up on is not getting enough carbs. I avoid bread, pasta, potatoes at all cost.  (well i did have a soup the other day with a small bit of potato in it)  but for the 97 percent of the time i'm not eating carbs.  Ive downloaded the myfitnesspal app.  I also think i may revert back to the liquid diet for a  few days, and maybe only do applesauce, and broths.  Thanks so much for this, its greatly appreciated,  Will keep you posted.

Weight seems to be holding steady. During the week I see a 2-3 lbs fluctuation but it always ends up about the same place on the weekend. Guess this is where my body is the most comfortable and I’m not complaining. I’m sleeping more soundly than I have in years and the CPAP is collecting dust in the closet. Energy level is back to normal. Life is great.
