Hungry and emotions all over the place

Uh, I am not sure what is going on here but I am starved. I mean tonight I am really really hungry. I am three weeks away from my RNY and over all have been eating properly. That is to say with exceptions of occasional meal photos that I post on facebook but don't eat them all, they just look pretty. I have no interest in food until about four o'clock and then grrrrrr. I can see all my bad habits just trying to bite me on the bum.

I am trying all my tricks not to eat, keep busy, avoid the fridge, get moving, but it is all being very difficult. There is one thing that I am wondering about - could it be that I am finally getting scared of having the surgery? I don't really get all that stressed and I am extremely confident that the surgery is the right choice. But this hunger feels like a reaction. Does that make sense?

Just wondering, have you been drinking enough water?  Many times the body will make you feel hungry, when you are actually thirsty.  If you are hungry, take a drink and wait half an hour and see if it goes away.

Head hunger is also something that you will be finghting for the rest of your life.

good luck

Hey Blake, You are not the first one to be going through this.  Make sure that you are drinking enough water/liquids (64 oz+) and keep a stockpile of ready to drink protein shakes in the fridge (I love Myoplex Lite from EAS) and drink one of these when you are starving.  I bet that in 15 mins the hunger will pass and you'll be able to move on.  Good luck!

I saw a ftness instructor on TV the other day talking about having a largely green vegetable and water shake that is loaded with fiber and, therefor, fills you up.  I didn't pay too much attention because having dark green veggies has an adverse effect on keeping a proper level of my coumadin.  However, I think he was on the Nate Berkus show.  If you can't have the shake, perhaps you can have a Fiber Con pill which you must take with a full glass of water.

Of course, 4 in the afternoon is one of those times of the day that many of us have trouble with.  Others have problems in the evening.  You generally don't want to be having too many fluids then.
