Well, gaining 2.4 pounds this week is a bit disheartening but I'm not going to lose faith. This is the first time that I've had an upwards tick like this since surgery so it's got my head spinning. Time to start food logging and keep tight control of what I am eating / drinking in the upcoming week. I can see one hole in my diet and that would be that I had maybe a few too many Pumpkin Iced Coffee with Cream & 4 equals this week. I was curious as I was typing this and went to DunkinDonuts.com and figured out why those damn Pumpkin Flavored Cofees are So F'n GOOD!! Here is the ingredient list: Pumpkin Spice Syrup [Skim Milk, Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Brown Sugar, Caramel Color, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Salt] WTF!!! A large Pumpkin Coffee with Cream has 330 calories. Again, WTF. I think I've figure out the hole in my diet over the last two weeks... I should have known and been smarter. I guess I didn't want to know the truth... "You can't handle the truth!" Glad that I keep myself accountable here and can nip this crap in the bud sooner rather than later! Back to skim milk and equal only in my coffee... Other than that my diet was pretty much the same as I always do. I actually likely consumed less calories than normal in my regular diet because I was filling it with the empty calories from the coffee. Well, I am certainly going to cut out the Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Coffees from now on. DARN!
I did very well with exercise. I only got to the gym once this week and Weight Trained for almost 2 hours, I walked for 30 minutes each day Monday through Thursday and also walked 18 holes of golf. I guess room for improvement here would be to get to the gym more times as I get a much more intense workout than just walking. It is getting harder to get motivated for the gym but don't want to go down that slippery slope of talking myself out of it. Its a new day and new week so I am going to get to the gym this morning for my 60 minute elliptical workout and start anew!!
Looking for a big weight loss in the coming week to make up for the gain and then get myself back on track. Kind of bummed but not enough to set me back. Odd thing is that even though the scale is going in the wrong direction I feel thinner than I have in at least TWENTY YEARS. I have lost nearly 170 pounds and can fit in most any chair that I want to know and have more energy than I can ever remember having in my adult life. No time to get discouraged. Just make corrections and move forward.

Took a pretty big step down on the weight ladder this week after a 0 last week. I honestly think that adding some calories to my daily intake may have tricked my metabolism from switching to starvation mode. I haven't been counting calories, but the meals are about the same size and selection. I've been avoiding complex carbs- no rice, bread, pasta, etc. however I did have a small tart size quiche lorraine yesterday and a 1/2" slice of pizza from my kids sleepover. That will be my problem in the coming months seeing that kind of stuff laying around and impulsively grazing on it.
Went shopping for a new pair of jeans and workout clothes yesterday. I went from a 42 waist last year to a size 36 (for now) and I gotta tel ya it was wierd browsing the "regular racks" instead of the large men's dept. I fit into xl pullover t's and a medium pair of shorts (never really had much of an ass)
no more 4x for me! I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
I'm up to Tufts Thu. for my 3 month follow up and 1st. set of labs. I'm wondering if they'll do a lipid panel since they told me to discontinue my Crestor after surgery. I'm almost ready to cut the BP meds in half, I've been checking it more frequently and i's below 120/80 consistently.
I have an appt at my gym with a trainer tomorrow p.m. to rewiew the nautilus equipment and free weights to set up a weight training regimen. I've noticed a loss of muscle mass and it's time to kick it up.
Lastly, I want to give Mike some encouragement and any support that I can. Your posts and encouragement on this forum has been inspirational to me and I'm sure I'm not the only one. At least you have recognized some negative calorie choices and reacted positively. No doubt at some point you will see a similar post from me. We're all human- not machines. I drink alot of Dunkin iced too, and I eyed the pumkin, too, pal- thanks for the heads up!

last week & this week i thought were going to be tough weeks for me because the fair is in town & we work the fair & you know what that means...FAIR FOOD!!!!! but today i have realized that i am winning the battle in 2 weeks of the fair being in town i have lost 9 pounds & also saved a **** load of money LOL...Yesterday i got a call from a guy to play in a benefit softball tournament & i said sure...now i have played for years and they always gave me a pinch runner but now i dont need one...i had a couple doubles & scored all the way from 1st for the first time in probaly 15 yrs...LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!!!!! have a great week fellas

Surgery is Tuesday and I have been a ball of mixed emotions the past week. I am running the gamut from excited to anxious, calm to nervous. I know this is normal, but for the first time in this process I am having serious doubts. I have been trying to get in as much time with my daughter this weekend as I will not be seeing her for the 3 days I am in the hospital. Wish me luck.

Everyone should expect the last minute jitters...and welcome them as they signify that you are making an informed decision rather than just jumping in to something. As you get closer, focus on the real reason you have started this process, that little child you hold, and how much more you will be able to do for her when. You are truly healthier. Best of luck.

Wow, this has been an unusual or challenging week for many of us. Wonder if the moon is full?
As for me, this is my first week dropping below the 190 mark and into the "normal" range of BMI. It's actuall funny that at a "normal" BMI, I look drawn and too thin in some places, but I still have the belly. Which leads to ....
In addition to my PCP visit, I had a plastics consult this week. Let's just say that it is humbling at the least to stand in front of a full length mirror naked while a strange man paws at your body asking if you would consider lipo in the groin area to "restore your natural physique." what he meant to say was that my dick will look bigger if I let him suck the fat from below my pubes. He's right, but I already knew that.
The first section of plastics would be the circumferential body shaping (major tummy tuck all around the body), the pubic fat sucking, slight reshaping of my flat ass and if time permits a bit of work on the moobs. I will probably select the Baylor College of Medicine program using residents to cut costs. In fact, the surgeon fees for all of the first portion are only about $3,000. But the hospital and OR charges will likely be an additional $7,000. But, my dick will look bigger. LOL. At this point, I don't know what phases 2 and 3 will cost. Two is the thigh lift and arms. Three, which I am lease concerned about, would include tightening the face - specifically the turkey neck triple chin that is really pronounced after the weight loss.
All that said, I would not even consider the plastics until my weight is stable for 6 months or so. My target is after the first of the year.
My post actually got way too long. I apologize, guys. Congrats to those who saw big accomplishments this week. And for those who had setbacks (Mike, you know who you are LOL), remember that this journey, like life itself will have ups and downs. The individual bumps do not signify the ride is over or that we have failed. The key is how we deal with that information to avoid future setbacks.
