PCP VISIT

had a regular PCP visit this week and the labs showed that I am anemic. From the blood work, it does not appear that the issue was iron or nutrition related, but rather that I have some bleeding. And the dreaded DRE (better known as "doctor what big fingers you have" proved that to be the case. So, now it's time for MRIs, endoscopy and colonoscopy to see if we can figure out where the bleeding is coming from. (we know where it's coming out, now we just need to figure out why).

Have an appointment with gastroenterologist this week and tests scheduled. Should be a fun week of sticking random stuff in my random holes!

I hope the doctor st least dimmed the lights and offered rip by you a drink first.

Sorry to hear about this issue and hour they find the cause quickly. Having had this test more times than I want to admit, which is any number greater than ZERO I truly understand where you are at.

Keep a positive outlook and it will all work out.

Thanks for the encouragement. At (gulp) 56 years old, I have been referred for colonoscopy several times, but never followed through for various reasons. And, believe it or not, for someone who has seen a doctor a minimum of every 3 months for 10+ years, I've never had a prostate exam.

I guess this is hopefully a gentle reminder that the tests are valuable if only for peace of mind. And, for those who have never had the DRE done, it was not uncomfortable and over before I knew it had even started. I'll let you know about the colonoscopywhen it's done.

Of course I do have a ltlle concern about having both an endoscopy AND a colonoscopy I told the doctor they should do them at the same time and then they could rotate me like a pig on a spit ... And, they do use different equipment for each don't they? LOL

The prep is much worse than the actual test.

Considering the constipation issues, I'm actually looking forward to the prep.

So many men are so damn sqeamish when it comes to the DRE and getting their man parts examined. Early detection is the key and you've just set a good example.
Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

Here's to finding an answer and getting business taken care of.  And yes, the dreaded DRE is not something to truly be feared.  I'm glad to hear men speaking up and taking charge of their own health! Kudos!
