Beer...Intense taste post WLS

So my wife and I ate at a local microbrewery this afternoon.  I got 1 oz of beer (asked for something that was closest to a German beer...Lager).  It has been about 6 years since I've had a beer...Just never came up.  If I'm at a function I'll get an oz of red wine usually.
We talk about our taste buds changing post WLS, well mine have.  The beer tasted stronger than I was use to.  Pre WLS I would drink some beer and the flavor would be washed away pretty quick.  Today I noticed a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.  I don't like Starbucks coffee because it leaves a bitter aftertaste also...Just me.
So those of you post op...Does beer taste different??  Stronger??  Just wondering...Brian

Yup, beer tastes a whole lot different for me. The taste is much more bold and strong that before WLS.

I've had beer a couple times since WLS. But, it's not something I enjoy like before.

I'm  more sensitive to bitter things now too. When I do have a beer, I've been drinking Bud Light Lime. It's not as bitter tasting.

Funny, I used to mainly drink Miller Lite and now it tastes like water to me and not very appealing.  I have had a few micro brews here and there in social situations (Saranac is my favorite) and really enjoy a more full-flavored beer now.  Not more than a glass or two though at any one time and I am done.  So I guess my new philosophy is that if I am going to be out in a social situation and have just one to try and at least make it taste good!!  That one beer hits me pretty quick but the buzz doesn't seem to last that long.  I have to say that I drink it pretty slow and do enjoy the flavor.

BTW, I haven't had a problem with the aftertaste but do notice the intense flavor.  I guess you need to just drink better beer!!  JK
