So my son comes home from a local restaurant with hot wings. Apparently the fact that they made him sign a waiver was not enough to persuade me from trying them. Now for those who know me, you know I have had little trouble eating anything. My appetite came back very quickly and the swelling was down in weeks. So I'm like hay I want to try one. OMG. I haven't had trouble with spicy food, but this was different. I don't think there was time for the wing to hit my stomach and I was hurting. Actually thought that I'd have to go to the ER. Pain was excruciating. I was hopping around the house bent over at waist wishing I could die and get it over with. The fix? A cup of milk. I'll think twice about eating a **hot wing** again.

I saw part of a show on one of the food channels last night where 2 buddies had to sign waivers before trying some very hot wings.  As the first guy barely touched a wing and screamed, he told his friend to not let it touch his lips.  And, the obvious reply was "how do your eat them if they can't touch your lips?"  Neither guy was able to eat even one and they had their milk chasers.

I'd never have that problem because most things that are supposed to be mild seem hot and spicy to me.  I don't even like the black pepper on the table and have been known to wipe it off my food.  Sometimes my wife will cook with it and say it doesn't taste like anything. And, I say if it doesn't taste like anything then don't put it in the mix.

They sound yummy!

The milk is one of 2 things to kill spicey heat. The capsasin (sp) is a waxy like substance that is not affected by water based liquids. The fat in the milk actually helps break down the capsasin allowing it to be washed away. The other thing that helps is an acid, licking a lemon will also do the trick.
