Well, I made it back home yesterday afternoon. I'm feeling pretty good, just a bit weak. I hardly had to use any pain meds at all and overall I am very pleased with the whole ordeal. My wife was an angel and was there by my side the whole time. She even slept in the room with me on one of those dang chairs. I am so blessed to have such a great wife and great people on my side!

If all continues well, I will be back to work in another week. Today is going to be a great day to take a walk!!  and yes, I know guys--sip, sip, sip.

Congrats!!!  Glad to hear you are healing well so far.  I started feeling much better once I got home.  Nothing like sleeping in your own bed!!!

Enjoy the ride!!!

Bill,
Good to hear from you. The next few days may be up and down for you between some lingering pain, gas and just getting used to the new lifestyle, but it gets better. Best of luck.

Good good good!!  A couple fatherly, older brother's advice.  You are right about the energy level.  It will take awhile for it to come back.  1 week (during the rapid weightloss) I lost 10 pounds!  Talk about zapping energy.
Concerning going back to work...You may want to start back by doing a couple of 1/2 days (4-5 hours) first...See how you handle them.  Remember it takes energy to get up, get dressed, get your food togeather, eat breakfast, drive to work, walk to the building, then do the work.  You will try and grab for energy and it just won't be there.  The energy you will be using is fat cell energy.  Before you could grab a candy bar for that energy...Stay on that sugar high...Not now.  Also be aware of the signs of dehydration.  If you have to stop and rest...do so.  Boring stuff for the next week or so.  Enjoy the ride.  Brian

It's good to hear from you.  I'm glad that there are a lot of guys who can relate to you.  I was already receiving Fed Civil Service disability when I had my surgery so I didn't have to even think about going back to work.  I strongly encourage those of you who have recently had WLS to reach out to newbies while the experiences you had is still fresh in your mind.

I'll tell my wife that I remember "thus and thus" about post-op and she tells me I've forgotten most of the details.

Brian is absolutely right about the half days. Although I had planned to jump right back into things ASAP, it really was more than I could handle. I took about a week off, then did half and three quarter days for a couple of weeks. The energy levels were not there initially. As much as I wanted to push, I couldn't. So, if you can take his advice on that.
