For you post op guys...What foods do you crave??
Thought we could get a thread going on what are some of your trigger foods...Things your mind or body craves. Here are some of mine...In no special order; chocolate chips (semi sweet), tortilla chips...(the oil, the salt, the crunch!!), sauerkraut (it was ok before WLS...but now I like it), frozen shrimp, McDonald's coffee (no bitter aftertaste), chicken corn dogs...Yeah, I know, not good for me, ice cream. All of these I will eat and drink in moderation. So what do you crave post op??
I'm a junkk food junkie and I crave sourdough pretzels, potato chips, and corn chips. As to that need for salt and crunchiness, there are times when it can only be satisfied with Fritos corn chips. I love ice cream, but as a post-op it doesn't like me too much. Pre-op I could easily sit down with 1/2 gal of ice cream per night ( how did I ever get to be over 570 lbs ? ) but post op I usually have 1/2 pint or less. A sundae from McDonalds is even too much. I tend to have ice cream pops or fudge bars. I was never a white bread man and I generally take it off my sandwich and eah my hamburger with a knife and fork. I do try to get a slice of rye or whole wheat bread in daily for the grain. I don't like cake but do like the icing. So, when I do indulge, my wife eats the cake and I have the icing.
By the way, if you want some flavor without the calories, Walden Farms makes various dips that are sugar and fat free. The chocolate tastes sweet and I like the blueberry. They also make salad dressings and cooking sauces.

Hot fudge sundae with coffee ice cream (to scared to try, I will steal a spoonful of my boys ice cream when I get it for them and they won't get coffee)
Most anything sweet, cookies, cake, pies etc. most of the items that I try to stay away from.
What ever good for me item that is not currently in the house.
Greek Yogurt (have it almost every day)
Every now and then i would really love to be able to drink soda, esp diet coke.

In no particular order:
fresh fruit of any kind
Coffee
Skinny Cow fudge bars
On the other side, things that were my big desires, but for some reason no longer crave:
crusty breads and fresh crusty bagels
Steak - I would have killed for a rare charcoaled strip now I rarely eat any meat
Fried chicken I have to admit I still crave this, but have stayed away because I'm afraid of what might happen after the first bite LOL
