Sunday Morning Weigh In (Hurricane Irene Edition)

Glad to hear that all is going well Larry!  Its probably best that you don't get on a scale every day.  I didn't weigh until about my 3rd week and then became obsessed as the weight was literally falling off of me for the next few weeks and then leveled out.  That first week was the worst for me as well and it just got progressively better from that point.  Great to see you exercising and checking in. All the best as you begin this incredible journey!!

Another good 4 pound loss this week. The even better news is that I have completed all of my prerequisites for surgery. My doctor's office is submitting me to insurance for final approval, so I hope to have a date soon. I am excited to get to the next step in my journey to a thinner healthier me.

Today is kind of a blah day as we are getting a fair amount of rain and some wind here in Syracuse. Nowhere near as much as downstate and along the coast. Stay safe if you are in any of the hardest hit areas.

I posted earlier this week that after having surgery on 2/14/11 I have reached my goal of 150 lbs. this week. I would like to lose 10-15 pounds more as I am only 5'5 but I am very happy with what I have done in six months. My waist has gone from 42 to 32 and my chest (for suit) from 50 to 40. I exercise for between 45 minutes to 1 hour and twenty minutes six days a week. I combine treadmill and weights and have begun to incorporate some core work as well. I eat low fat high protein at every meal. I havn't yet incorporated bread, rice, or pasta into my diet. Perhaps after my upcoming Dr. and Dietician apps.

Way to go!  Fantastic how well you've done in such a short period of time.  Keep up the good work!

Power back on after 24 hrs!  Strange storm here in east central Mass.  Lots of rain, kind of windy, but I have seen Nor'easters that were a lot worse.  But we sill lost power for a day - go figure

Week seven post-op.  Mid week, I had actually gained three pounds.  I wasn't too worried because despite the lack of weight loss I suddenly (or over two weeks) dropped from a size 50 pant to a very comfortable almost loose 48 - so good things are happening.  End of the week - down 2 for the week and into the 280's.  Haven't weighed this little for 12 years.

Hope to get to 285 or less for next week - only 20 more for the century mark.

Great to hear and I agree it was a strange storm.  We faired well here in Taunton although our neighbors didn't do so well with a lot of downed trees (one on a house).  Amazing how beautiful it is outside now with clear blue skies.  Time to go out and clean up!!

By the way, congrats on the waist size FART!!  What a feeling!!

We actually were hoping for one old tree to fall so we wouldn't have to pay to bring it down!  Ah well, it still stands there with half its limbs dead. and only a couple having fallen.

I live in Bolton on the very eastern edge of Worcester county, just 1/2 mile west of I-495 and south of Rt 2. We kept waiting for the storm to live up to its billing and it never really did.  To be honest, the damage I have seen seems worse than I expected based on the winds we felt.  We were very surprised that we lost power at all, let alone for a day.  I think I may break down and get a generator.

Sorry for the late reply- a little hectic here on the outer Cape. We've got 3 or 4 trees down in the back yard, some
broken clean off half way up and several large branches down.
I bought a 8000 watt generator last year when Earl was screaming up the coast and finally am using it. It runs the whole house-
power's been out since 6:00p.m. last night. I'm getting ready to fire up the chainsaw. Work was postponed today (I'm the owner).

I'm down 3 lbs from last week and it happened virtually overnight. I attended my 7 week post-op with the NUT and shrink
at Tufts. They both described me as a "Textbook patient" which was encouraging. The shrink told me people who haven't seen me for a while will start asking me if I'm "sick"- for the women it's if there pregnant. I have had no major issues with this surgery so far.

One NSV note (non scale victory), I have a running order for a glucose test every 2 months. I did the test and Friday got a letter from my PCP that said "Congratulations, your test results were normal." Hopefully the hypertension and cholesterol are next!!

Hey fella's, I'm a day late this week because yesterday was a very busy and confusing day. My basement was flooded like many of you yesterday. I was pissed because less than a year ago I spent over $16,000 to make sure I don't get any water. They assured me that I wouldn't get a drop. Boy were they wrong! It is still coming in as of this moment! But that's not the worse part of the weekend. I drove up with my brother in my truck and saw my neighbor outside looking at his trucks that have a large tree on them. So we figured we would help move the tree since it was blocking the whole street anyway. So we move his trucks and the three of us grab a big branch and start to pull. Well, my branch snapped and backward I went and fell on my butt. When I went down I smacked the back of my skull on the street so hard that another neighbor heard it hit from about fifty feet away. I didn't know my name or what the hell was I doing laying in the street. So the wife brought me over to the hospital and luckily there is no major damage. Just a split and a concussion. So what a weekend it's been! But I feel fine now so it is what it is....
