Hey All-

Sorry if Im breaking any kind of protocol but Ive been lurking for awhile here and decided to introduce myself- Im not sure how to do the progress scales at the bottom of the page but Id like to be able to so any help anyone can give ! LOL- In short- Im a 37 year old guy who had a Lap Band put in in 2005- familiar story- I lost a good amount but gained it all back and then some and I recently (07/25/11) had it revised to a Roux En Y.  My surgical course was a bit complicated because of scar tissue from the Lap Band- so my three hour surgery turned into an 8 hour surgery but thank GOD- they were able to keep it Laproscopic- and so instead of getting out the next day- they kept me for a week.  In the first week or two- I was miserable and convinced I had made a huge mistake (wasnt feeling well, couldnt drink anything, nauseous all the time) in the past two weeeks or so Ive DEFINITELY turned a corner- I hope to join here and learn more and maybe even contribute some- Im glad theres a place for us to come and talk together ! Thanks to all for reading this and I hope I didnt bore anyone ! LOL

Hey Mark,

No bore at all and welcome aboard.  Common story with a "crap band".  We have had some men have some great success with a band but have seen it go your way more often.

Glad you are over your "buyer's remorse" from your RNY.  That is almost another universal experience!  AKA:  "What the F**k have I done to myself?!" Enjoy the ride from here on out!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Hey welcome Mark, you've come to the right place for support and advice. The way you can post your tracker is: go to the top of the page in the blue ribbon where it says tool, click that, then choose widgets and tickers, once ya do that there will be a area that says create new ticker. Then just follow the instructions it gives you.

Looks like your making good progress so keep up the great work. Hope to hear from ya at Sunday's weigh in!

Thanks so much, guys- It seems the general group is dominated by the ladies and some of their concerns are.......a bit different from mine so its good to have this space to see what the gents are going through- I will DEF participate in the sunday weigh in- although this site is sometimes balky from my IPhone and my work laptop that I keep at home is being repaired so my numbers may have to wait until I get to work Monday morning for the next couple of weeks- but the weigh in threads are some of my favorite ones in here- cant wait to participate ! I thought I was the biggest person EVER to go through this- LOL- Even though Im a little over 6'4- 450 is huge any way ya slice it- but its so good to see some men who were my size and even bigger who have come down to sanity- Im so glad to be here and hope to be able to contribute !!! Take care !!!

Good one Ken, it was so bad you have a red shirt.

Welcome to the Men's forum, we are here for your support.  Ask us for help, or give us support when we need it, but don't tell us about the new nail polish you just found.

Good luck with your ride.

Start getting some exercise if you can.  Anything--especially walking will help.  It's hard to get active at your starting weight.  If you are having trouble walking, you may want to look into a water exercise program so you won't have strain/pain in your joints.  Check on the fitness and exercise forum about using weights or resistance bands.

I say this even though I have difficulty walking.  I have to use a walker/rollator or a cane.  So, I go very slowly.  My wife says I go at 2 speeds: barely moving and stopped.  I was an active runner, cyclist, and walker about 30 years ago and then I got married and gained 300 lbs.
