EAS 17g Protien Shakes
The worst thing about whey protein shakes is you usually have to buy a big tub. Once you taste it you may hate it. What I do is when I go to the local support group meeting I hand out samples of my favorite protein shake (won't tell you which one...very expensive and you may hate it). Taste before buying...That's all I say. Find people who you work with or know who have had WLS and see if you can get samples of a lot of different shakes...Find the best one then buy it. Brian
Hey Bernie, how ya been? Havn't seen ya in a while. I used to take EAS products when I used to work out. They do taste good but be careful with the amount of sugar in them. I recently started taking Nectar ( vanilla). It's good if you take it with Silk milk but not so good with water.Good luck buddy, keep up the good work!
Nectar is made by Syntrax. They make several flavored shakes and some vanilla and chocolate ones. Carerully read the labels for the various vanilla and chocolate one because they do not all have the same grams of sugar and protein. I look up the labels on www.netrition.com so I don't have to look them up in the stores. I usually buy there also but sometime my wife gets better deals at Sam's Club. I'm currently using Simply Vanilla which like other Syntrax products, can simply be mixed with a spoon instead of a blender. I sometimes add DaVinciGourmet sugar free and fat free syrups for a variation in flavoring.
I tried them just a few weeks after surgery and they tasted ok but really not that great on the protein...
My shakes are about 34g protein / 230 cal including the milk. I use the Body Fortress Vanilla from Walmart which gets you about 30 scoops for just 15 bucks - add 8oz skimmed milk, unless you can stomach it with water, 1 flat teaspoon decaf coffee and 2 teaspoons sugar free caramel syrup and after adding some ice it tastes just like a caramel latte and is the best shake I have had so far and you can up the caramel if you have a sweet tooth. I also sometimes just thaw a small amount of frozen fruit for my morning shake instead of coffee and that way its just like a fruit smoothie.

I've spent quite a bit of time on the road lately. The EAS shakes have been a great meal substitute for me while traveling. They're carried in most stores and I've found them to be a traveler's lifesaver.
I've looked at the stats on Muscle Milk and really didn't feel like they were a good choice for me.
My preferred pre-mixed shake is the Premier brand (available at Costco or Sam's Club). Their protein content is better than EAS but I can't always find them smaller quantities (4-pack).
