Been lurking on the general RNY forum for a while. I decided to scan the forums and found this one. It's on my favorite bar now, I'll still lurk in the other one, but I'm finding out that it has waaay too much estrogen for me sometimes!!  LOL

Welcome. My favorite saying is that this board is all the men without all the menses. But then I have an odd sense of humor.

Welcome Tim!  I love this board as well and pretty much don't venture outside of it unless I need a good laugh!!  JK .  Don't forget to post your stats in our Sunday Morning Weigh In.  Its a great place to see what everyone has been up to and where we are headed.  Best of luck on your journey!

That's cool.  What a small world.  I live in Taunton.  Who was your surgeon?  I had Dr. Shah and loved her.  She did a great job!

I see in your stats that you had Dr. Kim.  I heard at HOWL this month that she is going to be the new head, replacing Dr. Shikora (who is going to Brigham & Women's).  I also heard that they will be having monthly group down at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth which may be a lot easier for me than going into Boston.

I haven't been to HOWL since surgery- it's way too far for me  for a one hour meeting. Jordan might be more doable. I have had great support from friends, family and acquaintances so far, no social issues yet. When I start eyeing the carbs for too long, I will be in the danger zone! LOL

some of the attractions of the Men's Forum are that we generally talk about WLS surgery, proper eating, exercise, and resisting temptations to eat.  Oh, yeah, we do get into talks about male sexuality--like how the penis seems to grow as we lose weight ( or some of us actually get to see our own that had been hiding behind so much fat).

Of course, we do talk about other subjects.  The main thing is that you can freely tell us your hopes and frustrations without judgement.  If you want a kick in the butt, just say so.  I don't like getting that type of treatment and would probably binge in reaction to it even though I know that's a stupid response.

I try to be kind and gentle.  But, I've found that the characteristic that most attracts other men to this forum are the high number of men who have been successful.  Many eventually go onto the  fitness and exercise forum when they have less time to spend on OH.  I just ask them to post here occasionally.

Another local here - I had my surgery at Lahey in Burlington.

Also had to do that 6 month Tufts I-Can-Change program - some fun!
