6 Months Today

Good morning everyone,

Here are my stats at exactly 6 months after my surgery date on February 6, 2011:

506.5: All time high 9/9/9 (WW start) - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11
352.0: This Week 7/31/11 - BMI = 44.0

110.5 lbs lost since surgery.
140.4 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
154.5 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

I am extremely happy to be celebrating my 6 month surgiversary today with a grand total of 154.5 pounds lost from my all time highest weight. I am so happy and can't remember when I was as thin as I am right now. Honestly it must be at least 15 years and maybe more. I am stronger than I have been in years. This week alone I exercised 6 days in a row and loved every minute of it. I can walk up a flight of stairs without being completely out of breath. My clothes are literally falling off of me and people are telling me that I need to buy new clothes (crazy). I can now ride in most amusement park rides. I have the energy to work on a project and not have to sit down and rest every few minutes. I am closer to my wife than I have been in a long time!! My kids are starting to believe that they don't have a fat daddy... I can effortlessly tie my sneakers. I can get in and out of my car without struggling. I can walk down a flight of stairs and not have to turn sideways when someone else passes by me. And many, many more NSVs that you get the picture.

This journey will last me a lifetime but the first 6 months after surgery have been nothing but miraculous. I am stronger and more motivated than ever. Where this short term journey takes me is in my power and for the first time in my life I feel like I can get to a healthy weight and maintain it. I still don't have an ultimate goal weight but would imagine it is somewhere in the mid to lower 200's. I will know when I get there...

The Men's forum on obesityhelp.com has been amazing for the support I have received and the inspiration that I get from all the maintainers, newbies and those everywhere in between. I sincerely thank you for all of your posts and look forward to posting along with you for years to come.

Here's to the next 6 months! Have a Great Weekend!

-- Mike

Thanks Don and you said it.  I am amazed at the transformation that I have been undergoing.  I had a picture taken of me at the beach yesterday from the side and I'm actually starting to see definition in my arms and didn't want to instantly delete the photo.  It is a great feeling!!

Congratulations Mike!  You're doing an incredible job.  It is the little things in life that are so amazing, fitting in hallways and stairwells with others, setting in normal sized chairs, not being the biggest person in the room.  Your attitude and commitment are terrific!

Thanks Paul.  I am just starting to realize that last one you mentioned about not being the biggest person in the room.  I instantly feel that I am but when I look around I suddenly do realize that I am not.  It is amazing...  Almost like a dream!!
