This week's stats:
506.5: All time high 9/9/9 (WW start) - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11
356.8: Last Week 7/24/11
355.2: This Week 7/31/11 - 1.6 Lbs LOST this week - BMI = 44.4

137.2 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
151.3 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

Well, the scales are moving in the right direction and I lost 1.6 pounds this week. Its been a tough few weeks for scale movement. Feels like I've been in the 350's for a long time now but I'm dealing with it. I made it to the gym three times in the past week so need to work on that and get at least my four times in and five if possible. I've been doing well with my eating and haven't been taking in much off plan. I just think that I've hit a stall and am continuing to do everything right in hopes that I will soon be out of it. I definitely feel like I'm losing and getting thinner but the scale just doesn't show it.

I will officially be 6 months post surgery next week on August 7th so it is an important milestone in my journey. I'll try to put together a post next week which outlines my journey of where I've been and where I want to go at this important juncture in my journey.

Hope everyone has a great week!

OK. I have hit the dreaded stall, but seriously to the tenth of a pound! I have dropped a few more belt notches so I'm not sure what the he'll is going on, but I'm wondering if I am too low on calories. I am not going higher than 800 to 900 a day with protien shakes and food. I think I'm flash frozen in Carbonite like Hans Solo right now... We'll just have to see what next week brings

This week I have been doing a lousy job get in my protein and enough calories for the day. I have to get back on track and reignite the weight loss. Dispite my lousy job I've done this week I've still managed to drop five pounds.

My weight seems to be stabilizing, although I am overall still losing a bit. Not complaining as I am happy with my food consumption and it seems to be working for me. Went to the first meeting of a support group last week - a groupnthat has disbanded and is now trying to get going again. This was my first meeting with a "real life" (as opposed to an online group like this) support group as my doctor/program does not have them.

It was a small group of post ops, all several years out. Listening to their stories, I can see the need for continued accountability and
some of the challenges to come. I am already beginning to worry about regaining weight. That may be good in that it may make me more aware on a daily basis, which as I have posted has been an issue for me in the past.

I suppose the one thing I took from the meeting was that it is never a good idea to begin to "test one's limits" with food as that can become a recipe for disaster quickly. I guess the problem will be determining where the line between living and dangerous experimentation actually lies.

I am only 5 foot 5 and set my goal at 150. Now that  I am within 10 pounds I am sure that I can get down to at least 140. I am losing about 10-12 pounds a month (or 2-3 pounds a week.). I am exercising for about 40 to 75 minutes a day using the treadmill with weight simultaneously. Just this past week I have incorporated two new lifts with the weights. I have the treadmill at home so it is convenient and free and I watch my Yankees as I work out. My only concern is people tell me that i should be switching up my workout. Being that I only have the treadmill and weights I feel that I am maxi mixing my workout in this way. Also the last twenty pounds seem to be in the tummy. Any recommendations for a lift or exercise to try to firm that area up.

Week three. My stats below.  Lost a bit under 3 lbs.  I was a little discouraged after losing nearly 10 each of the first two weeks.  Also a little puzzled since my waistline is shrinking more than the weight would indicate.  (I nearly had a pair of shorts drop off when I was loading groceries in the trunk of my car)  Read up a little on the "early stall" phenomenon and the depletion and replenishment glycogen in the post surgery period, and that seems a reasonable explanation.  I have been counting calories pretty well, and I know that a 300 pound man has to be burning fat if he's taking in less than 900 calories a day.  So I will rely on the science and keep track of my eating and exercise and hope for the best.

Good luck and have a great week!

I had surgery the day before you and am in the same boat. I weighed in exactly to the tenth of a pound as last week, but dropped three belt notches Can't figure it out either, but less notches is good no matter what. Just wish the pounds would start back up...

OK, both of you are having perfectly normal reactions...  You body is fighting like heck to retain the weight - it thinks it's "starving" now, because you've drastically reduced the food intake.  You'll find that periodically, your weight loss will slow one week, then drop like a rock the next.  If you get obsessed with the scale, it will absolutely drive you crazy...  Just stick with the program, and you WILL lose weight.  Eventually, you may very well hit a real stall (no weight loss for 30 or more days) and THAT'S when you can really lose it...  LOL  Until then - chill out!  And stick with the program...  The weight will come off if you follow the rules and eat/exercise right.  Hang in there!

Thank you great Sensai. . I have found my zen place and am more than happy with belt notches... Weight like the days of our lives will slowly fall to the past. We must learn to enjoy the ride and not focus on the now... WOW. too much green tea. Sorry
