Happy Independence Day!!

This week's stats:
506.5: All time high 9/9/9 (WW start) - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11
363.6: Last Week 6/23/11
359.0: This Week 7/3/11 - Lost 4.6 lbs this week - BMI = 44.9

133.4 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
147.5 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

Another good weight loss week. I am still on a roll! Didn't get as much gym training as I would have liked but was moving all week with getting ready to be on vacation and doing yard work. Had a busy weekend last weekend with 4 birthday parties (one of which was for my daughter) and a trip to Gillette Stadium for a Taylor Swift concert (my girls loved it by the way).

We are vacationing on beautiful White Horse Beach in Plymouth, MA and camping in an awesome Amerilite Camper. I swear it was literally a breeze to set up and get everything ready once we arrived. Amazing how much easier every thing is to do now at this lower weight and how far I have come since this time last year. To step back to last year at this time I was pretty close to my highest weight, had sciatica so bad that I had been out of work for four weeks because I could not literally sit down for my desk job and could basically only lay down without awful pain. This injury was the straw that broke the camel's back and got me seriously thinking about weight loss surgery. They say you always are at your lowest point before you rise out of the ashes. This was my lowest point... I had everything going for me (a beautiful wife, two amazing little
girls, a great job, my health (except for morbid obesity), etc...) and I was throwing it all away. I thank God every day that I finally had the courage to do this, become the phoenix that I needed to and am not looking back... Anyway, I digress, I had my first full day on the beach yesterday and had a great time. Took a nice, long walk with the kids down to some friends who are about 1 mile down beach at a cottage they own. This was a walk that I would never have made last year and I tell you it felt amazing and liberating. I loved it and I'm not kidding when I say that my kids and friends couldn't keep up with me during the walk. We also swam quite a bit and the funny thing is that after losing almost 150 lbs I can swim for much longer distances under water now. I think that I was fighting the bouyancy of the fat before and it made even swimming harder. Incredible that even swimming is easier now!

Well, that's about it this weekend as I am going to go and see if I can catch a fish. The camp site is great as we are on a fresh water pond on one side and beautiful Cape Cod Bay on the other so my dilemma is whether to go try for a large mouth bass or a striped bass. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

Hope this finds you all in a great and happy place this wonderful 4th of July weekend.

Happy 4th of July,
Mike

GAINED THREE POUNDS IN A WEEK!!  WTF IS GOING ON HERE?!

I've been trying to walk more, eat right and even did ALL of my yard yesterday so I was sweating like the proverbial woman of ill repute in a church house so WTF!  Is it muscle mass building up?  Fluid weight?  Too many carbs?  After three years is my body adjusting to the surgery?
Not enough sex?

Dittos on a Happy 4th of July.  Be safe on the road and in or near the water!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Probably retaining water.  After a lot of outside work (and especially if I'm sweating a lot) I find I tend to retain water the next day.  Then the day after that, it's gone.  For example, after spending most of the day Monday working outside, and running up and down the stairs, then going to a great airshow / fireworks display in Addison, I woke up this morning with the scale saying I'd gained almost four pounds.  Just now, before eating dinner, it says I'm back to my previous weight...  I usually weigh myself only once a day, but I got curious after reading your post, and went to check...

I just figure if I'm eating right and exercising right, everything else will take care of itself.  And it usually does - just never fast enough for me!

The scales have been more to my likening, 173.? range, the last few mornings.  It just shocked the hell out of me, got a little PO'ed too, at seeing the 176!  I'm paranoid about ANY regain. I have way too much invested, in terms of time and money, to go back to the way I was before.  I like the changes that WLS has brought to my life and want to keep them.  Know what I mean, neighbor?

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Hey Don, you are the man!!  Glad to see that the scale has been a bit kinder for you the past couple of days.  I think that you are correct and it is MSB (Maximum Sperm Buildup) causing the temporary weight gain and as you said, need more sex!!

Hey guys,
Just checking in from the high school reunion. No scale, so no weight. The reunion was a lot of fun reconnecting with old friends. It was different being one of the ones who was obviously smaller than in high school. A few people were more than mildly surprised to see the "new" me. This in spite of the fact I had not seen the bulk of these people since graduation.

I've done pretty well on my eating, although I had wine two nights in a row. Hopefully when I get home to weigh on Tuesday morning, I will be pleasantly surprised....

Have a good week.
