New Here
Sorry to hear about your issues at home. The support is great, but remember this surgery is for no one but you. That said, you will read repeated stories of those who had relationships sour during the WLS journey. And, surgery will add more stress to a weak relationship. Have you asked her why she feels this way? We're guys, many times we don't ask. Maybe she has some fears that can be tamed if only you know what they are.
If your relationship is truly in bad shape, I'd suggest getting your own thoughts in order either with the help of a counselor or your own resolve that this is the best thing for you as a part of your preparation for surgery. And be prepared for the possibilities of what might happen. Sorry, if that doesn't sound as encouraging as you might have hoped, but from what I've seen here, WLS can be hazardous to a relationship. It doesn't have to be, but it certainly can.

Hello,I am new to this site and I am new to thinking about bariatric surgery.
I have been overweight for all of my adult life and have been on almost every diet out there.
I am just posting to say hello and to see if anyone has any suggestions about the first steps to take. I already met with a nutritionist and I think that I have chosen a surgeon.
Thanks!
The sleeve is also done as a stand-alone procedure.
I saw my cardiologist today; he thinks the sleeve is the best option but he is not a bariatric surgeon. I think that he meant that the sleeve has the best results for heart-related issues. Not sure about that.
Anyway, I still have almost two weeks until my first appt with the surgeon.

DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH
This is the key and can not be stressed enough. You need to know the percantages of what comorbidities are reversed by the various procedures.
Each procedure has it's pros and it's cons regardless of what anyone or group of people will tell you. Don't rely on your doctor but your own knowledge. You know your lifestyle and your habits and some surgeries will give you more or less support to confront and hopefully overcome these issues.
As for malabsorbtion it does have it's benefits and regardless if you have it or not you will need some supplementation after surgery regardless of the surgery, because you will not be eating enough food to get your needed viatmins.
So again do your research and know exactly what you are signing up for.
