PCP Follow Up Visit

I had my quarterly PCP visit today. Good news. I've been officially proclaimed free of diabetes and off of insulin. I was also taken off my cholesterol meds today as well. I've been on cholesterol meds so long, it's going to be a shock to my system not taking the pill at night.

I've only been on insulin about 18 months, prior to that I was on 4 pills daily and my sugar was still out of control. I won't miss sticking myself withnthe syringe each morning. A year ago, I was taking 135 units of insulin each morning. It took 3 injections to get that much since the injector pen does 60 units max. I had weaned the dose down to 5 units and with my latest A1c at 5.1, it seems to be a good time to get off the needle.

It's amazing what losing a couple hundred pounds will do ...
