Back from Vacation

Well guys, I just got back from a week long trip to an all inclusive resort in ***** Cana, Dominican Republic.  I officially am 2 months post op and can say I had the best time of my life.  I am down a total of 89lbs from my highest weight, and 65 lbs from surgery date.  Luckily the resort I stayed at had a great selection of foods (Asian, Mediterreanean, Mexican and Italian).  I opted for the eggs with peppers or mushrooms for breakfast, with a side of 1 sausage link or 2 strips of bacon (never once on vacation did I finish the entire breakfast, I would have a few bites of the omelette and 1 bite of the sausage of bacon.  For lunch, they would have a buffet with all types of food, I was addicted to all the seafood they provided (mahi mahi, grouper, salmon) with a side of avocado salad.  And for dinner I would have all seafood aswell.  I was scared before leaving that I wouldn't have been able to eat out there, but boy did they come through in the clutch.  As far as the vacation, it was the 1st time I was submerged in water since the surgery.  It was great to go snorkeling, jet skiing and atv sports, and not feel sluggish doing any of those activities.  Although I did try my hand at liquor, I know I'm not supposed to, but it was top shelf and i had half a drink and was drunk for about 2 hours, which followed with a nice hangover...all before dinner.  The experience was great, our suite was on the 3rd floor and i was walking up those stairs like it was noones business.  It was a great way to start the summer.  Already planning a family trip witht he wife & kids to DC in July and a trip to Maine in August.  I am full of energy and am greatful to have had this surgery.  BTW I bought a bathing suit 2 weeks prior to my vacation, which fit me snug, only to put them on at the resort and have them hanging off my butt.  My 1st WOW moment.

I tell people as you drop the weight, you're like a kid in a candy store with a wad of $20. and no adult around!!  You want to try everything...From new clothes to different sports.  You don't mind walking by a mirror.  Soon the mental side of WLS becomes harder than the physical side.  Women will start to check you out...Society will treat you better.  They'll think "he's normal weight...He must have is act together..."  If only they knew.  It can really play with your mind if you're not careful.  I've mentioned this before, but WLS is like an amusement park ride...You don't know what's around the next corner.  Hang on for the ride of your life!!  Enjoy the ride...

You are not kidding.  This is one hell of a ride and I am already seeing that society treats you different in many ways.  For example, I was at a ball game over the weekend with my wife sitting on one side of me and a woman (and her husband) sitting on the other side of me.  I swear to God that I was never flirted with and hit on so much in my life by a total stranger and this happened the entire game.  It was crazy, flattering and extremely uncomfortable all at the same time.   Yikes!!!  So, I am truly convinced that you are correct and this is most definitely the ride of your life.   Yee Haw!!
