Memorial Day Sunday Weigh In
Just letting you know what happened to me when I hit goal (I'm 5' 11"). I hit my doctor's and my goal of # 190...Shot past it to 187. I feared I would be one of those people who ended up in a rest home whithering away to skin and bones...I freaked out!! So I started to eat everything in sight...Big mistake. I started regaining quickly...Got back up to 200. What I should have done (and what you are doing) is add more complex crabs to your diet. Adding more whole grain pasta and fruits is the way to go...Even things like whole grain rice and baked potatoes are the way to go to try to stabilize...Not simple carbs (cakes, candy, sugar). You can add a little fried...but not much. My 2 cents. Brian

Brian,
Thanks so much for your response and encouragement. I talked with my NUT and she confirmed exactly what you said about adding the correct carbs.
I've also been using myfitnesspal.com to track my daily intake. My NUT reminded me that it was still programmed for weight loss and not for "maintenance". She helped me set a new maintenance goal in that program and it changed my daily goals for intake.
Before I was strictly following those guidelines and now I'm adjusting my eating for more maintenance. I'm still eating more sensibly than before WLS but I'm no longer paranoid about my intake.
I suspect I'll still remain under the daily goals in myfitnesspal but it's good to know I can lighten up a little bit. FYI, I'm still weighing myself regularly so I can catch any upward change before it becomes a problem. I'd be very happy to stay between 190-195 lbs.

The one thing to remember about MyFitnessPal is that it doesn't know about RNY and the need to up your protein intake accordingly... I generally look at what it recommends, then adjust the protein upwards, and the carbs downward to make the right percentages and caloric total... But I do love the program, and think it will be a huge help in maintenance. Lord knows it keeps me honest about tracking everything I eat... It's just way too easy to slip back into old habits!
Keep up the great work. This is one sport where "rebounds" are NOT a good thing!

“Victory is won not in miles but in inches. Win a little now, hold your ground, and later, win a little more.? Louis L'Amour quote
Still sidelined as far as regular exercise routine goes becauseof a messed up shoulder. No real gym time in over 2 weeks now , and still have at tleast aweek to go. So as far as eating gos I have ct out my mornin carbs since I don't need them for the gym and have gone way high protein 125g or more which is largely from supplements.
I was worried that I had probably gained a few due to lack of regular exercise but was shocked to see I went from 212 to 209 in a week.
I have done decent listening to the doctors about the shoulder, I dropped out of my Triathalon next weekend (needless to say I was royaly pissed!) and am not doing a 5K today. I have longed some miles on the bike though.

Was In Boise this weekend visiting my brother. It's a great bike town, but wasn't able to get out and ride...Just flew back this morning. One other thought about one of the flights...Southwest. As we know most Southwest flights are packed (cheap way to fly for most). I was later in chosing my seat. I chose one between a man and a woman who were both about 230 pounds...Didn't mind a bit. Before I would really work to find the seat that would fit my weight...and not have people ill at ease about me sitting next to them, because of the arm room next to them...Not today.

Great FART. Hope you had a great visit with your brother. Wish I could get up to see mine sometime soon!
I had a similar experience recently on a plane - what a relief to be able to sit comfortably (if that's the right word!) in a coach seat, and not worry about seatbelt extenders or "hanging over" the shared armrest.
