15 Weeks Post Surgery Update

492.4: Tufts Program Start 9/20/10
457.0: Surgery day 2/7/11
387.6: Last Week 5/15/11
383.2: This Week 5/22/11 - 4.4 lbs lost this week - BMI = 47.9

109.2 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
123.3 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

Well, what a great week I had.  My back is finally healed and I am once again feeling great.  I lost another 4.4 lbs this week which makes me feel great mentally as well.  I exercised quite a bit this week and made it to the gym 5 days.  Hit a personal best of 60 minutes on the elliptical for 3 days in a row.  Incredible thinking back just 10 weeks when I started exercising and could barely get in 5 minutes before feeling like I had to pass out.  It is great to be feeling so good.

My diet has been good and I have been introducing more foods.  I am easily getting all my protein and fluids in.  I continue to take my vitamins faithfully.  All has been good with diet.

We had a rough week with the weather here in the northeast so the girls got rained out for all of their softball games.  We ended up having three games on Saturday and then my youngest daughter's birthday party at the movie theatre.  11 little seven year olds giggling and laughing.  What a trip.  We saw Rio and they had a blast.  My poor wife had to make three mass trips to the restrooms (two during the movie).  It was pretty cute as soon as one had to go to the bathroom she was up with the rest of them following behind in a nice little line.  Looked like a mother duck with all of her ducklings.   It was cute!!  Did have a FART during the movie as it was the first time that I can recall where I actually fit in the movie theatre seat without my hips being compressed by hard plastic.  It was quite comfortable!!

Started working on my pool and yard yesterday.  Amazing how much easier things are than they were last year.  For example I got a full propane tank and last year would have driven the truck around the back and dropped it off next to my mosquito magnet.  This year I grabbed it from the driveway and walked it around back without a second thought.  Even such simple things as bending over and adding the octenol to the mosquito magnet was nearly effortless this year where in the past it was one of the chores that I had to do every three weeks that was very hard because I had to get down to around two feet off the ground to get to it and the bending was nearly impossible.   What a great journey and it is these things that keep me motivated and feeling like this surgery was the best thing I could have ever done for myself.

Well, I have another busy today with a mitvah event at the community house this morning and then a welcome party for my niece at her grandmother's house.  Then home to hook up my pool filter and get that running and opened.

To all my friends and family, stay strong and motivated!!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Good week. Hit one of my non-weight goals. I was finally able to buy pants in a size 38. I was actually wondering if I would ever get into the 30's with all of this extra skin I have juggling my middle. And my ring is falling off. Time to replace that with a smaller size. Pants went from 60 (with elastic expandable waists) to 38. And ring from 13 to 10. Shirts from 6X to XL. I've been keeping the clothing stores in business here lately. And the cool thing is that now I am buying name brand stuff for less than I was paying for house brands at the big and tall store. Have a good week guys.

Well, being home seems to agree with me. I dropped the weight I gained while traveling and a little bit more. I’m still working toward my personal goal weight of 190 lbs.

I’ve now lost the equivalent of the complete Encyclopedia Britannica.  (Do they still make those in hard copy or is everything now electronic / on-line?)

High Weight = 310     Surgery Weight = 300   Dr's Goal = 200   My Goal = 190

No longer morbidly obese never thought I'd see that day.  Went out and did some thrift shopping clothes are jut too damn big.  It's kinda fun to go out and look around and not be the biggest guy in the crowd anymore although I still have a long way to go.

Still see my social anxiety worsening which wasn't something I expected.  Just can't handle stupid people anymore.

Well back out to the yard and shop for another day. I would never done this every free moment 157 pounds ago.  Just wish I would've done this many years ago.  Oh yeah and the dart game is coming around too:)

Have a great week everyone!
