14 Weeks Post Surgery Update

506.5: All time high 9/9/9 - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Program Start 9/20/10
457.0: Surgery day 2/7/11
392.0: Last Week 5/8/11
387.6: This Week 5/15/11 - 4.4 lbs lost this week - BMI = 48.4

104.8 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
118.9 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

Very happy with a 4.4 pound weight loss this week with very little official exercise.  I have been moving quite a bit with coaching, etc... but no official exercise this week.  This week my injured back has continued to plague me and I have been unable to exercise.  I am going to go to the gym today and see if I can do a light workout.  Fingers crossed that I can handle it and start stepping it up again this week!

My diet has been going well.  We are half way through softball season now and that really has stressed my regular routine out a bit since I come home from work three nights a week and then immediately rush out to the softball field and don't get home until after 8 pm.  Oh well, its been good as you know since I've been coaching and my girls love it.  I have been introducing different foods and most have gone pretty well.

Took my wife to see Chelsea Handler this week at BU Agganis arena.  We were a bit late so figured we'd get something in the arena.  Not any healthy choices so I got the buffalo chicken tenders (3 of them) over a plate of fries.  I nibbled on the chicken and didn't touch the fries.  I was very hungry and hadn't planned this very well but was able to eat 2 1/2 tenders with no adverse effects.  One good thing about the surgery is that in the past I would have had numerous cups of beer, popcorn, buffalo tenders, fries, etc...  and then still been hungry so although it wasn't the best of dinners it still didn't seem that bad.  I definitely need to plan better in the future!!  Did have an FART during this though...  We had great floor seats and you needed to walk up about 100 stairs to exit the arena.  I went right up the stairs (bad back and all) without a problem and wasn't even out of breath.  Normally I would have stopped about half way and took a breather or searched for the elevator.  Amazing and it felt good!

Have a Great Week!

Last week: 223.0 lb
This week: 220.2 lb
Loss this week: 2.8 lb
Total loss: 186.8 lb

Although I show a loss of 2.8 this week, I had actually weighed in at 219 (or a total of 4 lb) on two days. Overall a good week. Skipped gym on Fri to go to a hockey game with my son. Had a good time even without beer although the garlic parmesan fries were pretty tasty (yes, in moderation). My one year surgiversary is Tuesday and surgeon follow up is Wednesday. I've been thinking a lot about "body image" or how we perceive our own bodies, and plan to post some thoughts and concerns as a surgiversary post later this week.

Wow, what a year.  Great job and very motivational.  You must feel amazing.  I am very curious about your thoughts on "body Image" as I have been struggling with the same thing at times over the past month or so even though I am still relatively early on in my journey I'm sure they are similar.  I attended a seminar at Tufts Medical Center last month for post op patients and the topic was body image.  Incredible how many people who when you and I look at them would say that they look great don't feel it or see it.  I guess the moral of the seminar was that it takes a while for your mind to catch up to your body after rapid weight loss but knowing is half the battle!!  Look forward to hearing your thoughts...

Jeff, great job.  You must be psyched being so close to the 200's.  Can you even imagine being in the 200's?  I haven't been there for over 20 years.  It will be an amazing accomplishment for me as I'm sure it will be for you!!  Keep up the good work!

Another good week although the scale didn't reflect it.  Guess I was do for a small number anyway.

Got out hunting for Morels a couple times and played another round of golf last week, I hope the weather turns around soon.  I can't believe how much more energy I have now. I feel like a kid again.

Have a great week guys

Hey Dave,  I hear you on the energy.  Isn't it incredible?  I did 60 mins on the elliptical yesterday and today.  Who'd have thunk it?  Just 10 short weeks ago I couldn't even get 5 mins.  I love this journey we are one.  Keep up the good work and hope you have a great week!
