OK Guys, Let's talk about thinning hair & the VSG

I'm nearly 3 months post-op (the 10th) and today I noticed that my hair is quite a bit thinner on top and my hair is just coming out at an alarming rate when I wipe my head with a towel! I know they said we would see "some hair loss" during the pre-op classes but I'm getting a little freaked out now!
Any insight would be appreciated... Craig

Protein intake will help.  Some people swear by Biotin (cheap and over the counter).  Time is usually the answer, as the weight loss slows your body will recover and hair will start to regrow.

Family history also plays a part.

Yep - it's temporary, unless it started before WLS...

Before surgery I had a receeding hair line. Now it's in full retreat.

Taking lots of protein and biotin. Not sure it's helping (yet) but I feel better because I'm doing something.

It's temporary!!!

I started noticing about two months. I wasn't sure if it was due to the surgery. or if it was just time that my hair started to fall out naturally.

I noticed my hair fuller again at 6 months.

I tired all kinds of stuff biotin, more protein, hair rejuvenating products. but I think it was time that really was the right product.

Well...

I had nice long hair before.  I tried for the rockstar look.  I don't know how successful I was, but I had enough to keep it in a ponytail.  Six months later it was coming out in handfuls and it got thin, so I cut it all off.  Sad? Yes.  But it is a great consolation that I also lost 167 lbs in that same six months and am now almost normal weight.  It was worth it!
