Approved and have a date!
Well we have more than enough room on the losers bench with the weight everyone here has dropped.

Nice, your date is just around the corner.
“Victory is won not in miles but in inches. Win a little now, hold your ground, and later, win a little more.? Louis L'Amour quote
I've beeen posting on OH since July 2000 and I say that most insurers will approve what have become mainstream WLS but are reluctant to go for newer procedures. This is true even if the newer procedures seem to be better and less invasive. I've seen similar problems with the DS and the Fobi pouch. I'm sure that there have been others along the way. If your insurer does nto cover the particular surgery that you want, they you would continue to be denied even on appeal. Another problem that many people run into is that some employers have scaled back versions of some health plans. You may think that they should logically cover a procedure ( including ones that have nothing to do with WLS ) only to find that they don't. The problem is often not with the insurace company but rather with the plan that your employer purchased.
So, you have approval for RNY and a new date. Your overall wait is really not that bad. Back in 2000, I got my surgery in only 3 months because the surgeon had a cancellation. I remember that many people were waiting anywhere from 6 to 18 months from the time they applied until the date of their surgery. Continue your pre-op preps and get ready to lose weight permanently.
