Stress Relief without Comfort Food

Presurgery I would use food as a stress reliever.  Long day at work? Oh some ice cream will make that better.  Now post Op I seem to be much more reactionary and little things really seem to get to me, especially when stressed.  Anyone else notice this?  Found any good quick stress relievers?

We haven't mentioned this in awhile, but stored in your fat cells are different hormones.  Including in these hormones is estrogen...Yes estrogen.  During rapid weightloss it gets released.  Men who have never been really emotional before all of a sudden become unhinged...actual PMS.  We are not use to this...We have no idea why our emotions are flying all over the place..."The world is falling apart!!"  After a while it becomes easier, but that may very well be the problem.  Exercise for me is a real stress reliever...Get those endorphins working for you.

Dittos to what Brian says on the "technical" end of what is going on.

I hard workout will often help me.  I have become a  believer in regular exercise to keep stress levels at acceptable levels.

A nice run or workout typically seems to do the trick, but on those days when things just seemed totally messed I just go to sleep.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm doing 3 days a week of cardio and another 3 days a week of weight lifting.  The exercise definitely helps.  It's probably that I've always been a pretty even keel kinda guy so the new swings just seem strange, not that I'm Cybil by any means.   It all makes perfect sense though.  Thanks again.

Exercise always works, even as simple as taking a walk around the block.

But, sometimes getting some exercise isn't feasible. Those are times I make myself a cup of tea (it mimics the eating function without the calories or dumping afterward), and do something introspective. I'll grab one of my instruments and start playing, or I'll read a book. Something to engage my mind.
