How long did it take you....

OK it kinda sounds like my surgeons offis is doing things backwards or sideways but not normal of what Ive read others do.

We submitted to insurance for a vsg on the 4th.  Was denied and started the appeal process right away. 7 days later still no answer. But I am scheduled for surgery on May 3rd, so I am doing all of my pre-op testing, classes and diet.  Im down 18 lbs from last week. So what if I don't get approval in time for my May 3rd scheduled surgery? I hope I won't have to go do all my labs over again.

How long did it take you from submittal to approval?

I found out I was approved just 2 weeks before my surgery.  Don't second guess the office, they know if you will get approved, they know how the system works.  Just have faith that they know what they are doing.  I understand how hard it is to wait and get the approval.

Thanks.  Yeah I met with my surgeons office today and since there is a medical review report supporting me having the VSG, this think it will get approved.  If I do get denied they can do a personal peer to peer review with my surgeon to get it approved.  So that would help get it approved.

Im not so worried about getting approved because my surgeons office says they can have an approval for the bypass in 24 hrs.  So my surgery date of may 3rd will stay.

But I really want the VSG over the bypass.  So im kinda freaked out waiting on their final decision.

But I will hear for sure next week.

I was in your shoes last year. My insurance company denied me for the VSG. Denied the Apeal even after a peer review. Then received approval for the Bypass.

They weren't able to do the bypass and I ended up with the VSG. The story is in my profile.

My doctors office would not schedule the surgery or any pre-op testing before I was approved.
