171.5:  2 yr Surgiversary! (Dr. scales)
173.4:  Unofficial 3rd Surgiversary
172.8:  Last week
173.4:  This week

If you'll notice I hit my three year surgiversary this week.   Unofficially, meaning my scales, allowing for weekly fluctuations and a big ol' morning nasty stinky, I'm still in the same range I was at the first one so I guess I'm still living right.

One side note to the newbies:  If you ask me if I would do WLS again; from a physical stand point I'll tell you "yes".  That part of it is easy.  The hard part is the emotional/psychological part of this journey.  There are so many ups and downs that it ain't even funny.  Not out to burst any body's bubble that is thinking about WLS just queuing you in on what you are in for.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Up about a pound this morning from week's lowest weight, but I did a bit of grazing yesterday at a friend's house whi*****luded a small piece of apple pie and ice cream. Still fighting constipation from the newly added iron bills. Damn, even the milk of magnesia which has been pretty reliable for me, doesn't work. Next step is dynamite.

Ken, Milk of Magnesia usually doesn't help me at all. The best thing I've found is to use China Slim Tea. I buy it at a local Asian store but you can also get it on the internet.

Ever tried over doing it on SF candy?  One hell of a carb coma usually followed the next morning by a major big ol' nasty stinky!

Highest Weight: 310 lbs
Surgery Weight: 300 lbs (on 08 Oct 10)
Last Week’s Weight: 202 lbs
Current Weight: 199 lbs

Total Loss: 111 lbs (from highest weight)
Total Post-Surgery Loss: 101 lbs
Weekly Loss: 3 lbs

I’ve now reached my doctor’s goal weight and did that 1-day before my 6-month surgiversary. Also dropped below 200 lbs for the first time in over 25 years. Working to get to my personal goal weight of 190 lbs. Will see if the body starts leveling out at that weight or if it wants to drop lower.

I’ve lost the equivalent of a 2-month old horse and an average house cat.

Thanks, Don. A year ago I wouldn't believe this was possible. I can't believe the positive changes in my life from just dropping pounds. Seems to have affected both my physical and mental health.

Happy with 3 this week after a big number last week.  Was able to buy clothes at a "normal" store for the first time since JR high.  that was pretty cool.

Have a great week everyone

9 Weeks Post Surgery Update

506.5: All time high 9/9/9
492.4: Tufts Program Start 9/20/10
457.0: Surgery day 2/7/11
408.0: Last Week 4/3/11
404.8: This Week 4/10/11 - 3.2 lbs lost this week

87.6 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
101.7 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

Well, I had a great week and have expanded my exercise by leaps and bounds. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine on 4 days. I did a complete nautilus circuit on two days. I coached a softball practice for two days (1 1/2 hours each). And also worked in my yard for about 4 hours on Saturday and got the entire front of my house weeded and mulched. Man, do I feel good. And just think I am doing all this at over 400 lbs!! What the hell will I be able to do when I am 350 or 300 or 250? Just think!! Crazy!!

Had a funny NSV happen to me on Saturday. I have always played kung fu with my 6 & 8 year olds but usually just stood in place and made the motions. Anyway, on Saturday while playing kung fu with my 8 year old it progressed into a fake slap fight and then I began chasing her around the house and ended in a tickle fight. Doesn't seem like much to most but previously I would have never had the energy or ability to just play and RUN around the house like that. My daughter was very surprised when I actually chased her and caught her!! It was funny! Of course, when the 6 year old saw this I had to repeat the entire scene. This weight loss is becoming very liberating...

Had another funny NSV at a community event at the temple this week with a friend of mine telling me that I looked great and that I needed to buy some new shirts as the shirt that I was wearing was way too big. I knew that it was and it was a shirt which was 1X less than I was wearing when I started ( 7X :-( ). I am realistically down at least 2X from my highest and possibly close to 3X down from my highest. It feels like my body is shrinking faster than the scale is going down. Go figure!!

My food and eating is getting better and better and becoming less of a chore. I have advanced myself to stage 5 and introduced some veggies, breads, etc... Had a small subway sweet onion chicken sub on a wheat roll. I ate about half the roll, all the veggies and chicken. It was very nice to eat almost like a human again. I officially meet with my nutritionist on April 18th to progress to stage 5 but I'm 9 weeks out and according to the Tufts program materials I really should be in stage 5 already just couldn't get an earlier nutritionist date.

Well, that's about for this week. I am going to continue to hit the gym as hard, if not harder, than I did last week. I am soooooo close to breaking the 400 mark. I need a measly 4.8 lbs to get there. While I've been trending at around 3 lbs per week I am not anticipating being there this coming week but will still work my butt off and try. It would be a huge psychological victory and accomplishment to me. I'll get there whether it is this week or next.

Life is Good...

Congrats Michael - it realy is those NSVs that have more meaning than the scale movement.  Those times with your kids are truly priceless!  Keep up the great work and progress!  Mike
