How to maintain

I'm coming up to a year, and I'm about 5 pounds away from the goal I set for myself.
I'm probably below that goal if I could remove the loose skin..

I can eat anything I want. I don't dump so I occassionally eat sweets and fatty snacks.  Eating just a little of these does not seem to be a problem.. I'm still loosing about a pound a week.

I recently decided I should track my food intake again just to check myself.. and was surprised to learn that I'm not always getting the minimum 60 G of protein.. OK.. I'm back on track with that.

BUT.. I'm curious to learn how many calories I require to maintain my weight.  My Weight Loss Center doesn't talk calories.. just Protein intake!!

If I recall Weigh****chers used to work out be about 1000 calories a day.  I found this site...
http://www.annecollins.com/calories/calorie-needs-men.htm  that suggests that for my age, height/ activity level etc.. I should be eating 2305-2599 per day.. to maintain.
I've been tracking for the past week and generally eat between 1500-1800 per day..

Does anyone else track their calories?   One thing I've discovered is that since I started back with the protein shakes.. I'm not hungry .. the protein fills me up and seems to stay with me longer.

Just curious what you guys who are at or close to goal are consuming?

Sorry I don't keep track...I graze.  But I try and graze on good stuff.  I'll keep in my pants pockets; almonds, walunts, raisins, banana chips, beef jerky, rye crackers, roasted soy nuts.  You may want to try the exercise and fitness forum...They are in tune to the daily calories a lot more there.  My siren song on OH is avoid the simple carb trap...Very addicting and hard to kick.  I regained and the lost quite a bit.  I go up and down now with the weight (current 211-213).  I find that activity is the key for my junk food habits.  Brian

John,

I just reached my doctor's goal weight and am looking at what to do for maintenance. A while back, Jim (a frequent poster in this forum), got me hooked on MyFitnessPal.com. I really like that program because it works on both my PC and android phone.

For my age, weight, and height it tells me I should have 1300 calories a day. I'm averaging between 900 to 1200 per day. But, I've also found that MyFitnessPal does NOT recommend the same level as protein as my doc suggests.

FYI, I'm in my late 50's, weigh 199 lbs and am far from being a gym rat.

High Weight = 310     Surgery Weight = 300   Dr's Goal = 200   My Goal = 190
