To have a "Nip" or Not???
There have been several posts asking the question of "Can I or when can I have a 'wee dram' or nip or an adult beverage?" or questions to that effect.
As many have read my posts know, I do enjoy a glass of wine or an occasional mixed drink. I believe most of us on this forum recommend following your physician's advice and if/when you are going to try a "drink" do so at home, near the "necessary room", just in case. We also let everyone know that as post WLS guys, we generally are very cheap drunks and hence dates.
And for ANYONE, post WLS or not, Please, Please, Please, do NOT drink and drive. This one is particularly important for us post WLS.
Anyway, below is a link to a very interesting article from the Marathon Training Schedule website.
Especially for those who are still working to lose weight and get to goal, and those of us who are working toward a specific training goal, like running a Marathon, I found this information very insightful.
Happy reading...Good luck and much success to reach your weight loss and healthy lifestyle! And, for those like me who have replaced their food addiction with running or some other form of exercise...RUN ON!!!

Damn! You got me to thinkin'.... I hate it when that happens. But here it is:
I stopped booze "cold turkey" 2 months before WLS - figured I would really give the old liver a chance to rest. Before that I was a serious Scotch or Martini person; I mean, I could do without, but rarely did without. Wifey and I loved our ****tails pre-dinner, nearly always with a snack of some porn food or another. She gained 10 lbs. over 10 years, I gained 125, and much of it, I'm sure, stemmed from the stemmed glasses and tumblers.
So, now, I'm 6 mos., w/out booze, 4 mos. post-op and down 100+ lbs. I've also lost diabetes, sleep apnea and high blood pressure.
Here's the problem: I leave tomorrow for a week of golf with my best buds in Myrtle Beach,SC. My foursome has been incredibly supportive of me - like my wife, they loved me fat and they'll continue to love me less-fat and probably love me not-fat - until I kick their asses with my new "moobless" golf swing. Understand, they will not pressure me to do anything; they are so proud of me I could cry. I'm planning to surprise them by treating for a dinner while we're there, and I was thinking - there I go again - about breaking my fast and having a celebratory ****tail. I read your post and I'm wondering if this is a good idea?
Any food for thought on my question would be, as always appreciated.
