I joined a gym 10 days ago and made it there 8/8 days and followed my diet to the word and got in all the water and vitamins.   the weird thing is since I started working out my weight loss has stopped.  Is this something the rest of you have experienced?

thanks

I don't think this is unusual. It's my thought (with nothing medically to back it up) that anytime you change routine that your body tries its best to "freeze" and not allow that change to affect the status quo.  Much like when you diet and your body stops buring calories to protect its store of fate and energy. Stay the course and things will normalize again.

I agree!  Some less informed people   might say...."you're gaining muscle!"  BS!  It take time  and effort to put on muscle mass.....not gonna happen that quick!  Be patient.....it will start going down again.

Greetings fellow Minnesotan!

I find the same thing.  The more I work out, the less likely I am to have a loss on the scale.  The key is not to let that stop you!  The loss will start up again.....but working out makes your while body 'healthier'!
We are bound to have stalls here and there, but the key is to stay focused and moving in the right direction - exercise is in the right direction!

If it seems to be prolonged, you can check in with your Dr's nutrionist or bariatic nurse.  It may just be that your are using up all the calories you are taking in, so you body is in a sense 'protecting itself'.  With the addition of exercise you may need to increase food/calories - but check in with your Dr's office first.

Keep working out and following your program.

No matter which WLS we have, our bodies go through considerable changes, especially early on.  It's saying, "What the hell is going on, here?  Maybe I had better not give up these lbs. easily, I might be starving...."  Effort and consistency - that's the ticket for continuing down the weight-loss staircase - sometimes we just stay on one step a bit longer than another.  I find my clothes and the mirror are as important to me as the scale these days.  Keep on truckin' -  I'm 65 and, according to my 4-year-old grandson, I'm not just "shrinking" I'm also getting younger.  Smart kid.

Yeah.. weird huh?  I logged my food for months... ate 668 calories a day for weeks and weeks. Some weeks I'd lose 9 pounds.. sometimes I gained two pounds.  The only think I can figure out is that our body works on a different calendar than the one we hang on a wall.  It happens to a lot of us.  Hang in there.. You'll  be fine. Good luck.

I am pretty much in the same boat as you this week. The scale did move in the right direction (down 2.8 lbs) but given my weight I was expecting much more and can feel and see that my body is changing. I agree with a lot of the posts on this thread that says as long as you are doing everything correctly that the numbers on the scale have to catch up. See the positive things that you are doing like joining a gym and actually using the membership. That is great and will pay you back ten-fold on your journey. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone and keep it up!!

There are some excellent science-based posts about how increasing our workouts causes the body to retain more water, etc.  I'd been stuck on 302 lbs for a couple of weeks, eating well and working out like crazy.  Then between Friday AM and this morning, I dropped 3 lbs.  Ironically, I didn't have time for my full work-out at the gym on Friday, just did my weight lifting, and came home to do my cardio on the Nordic Trac.  Likewise on Saturday I didn't go to the gym.

Sometimes, you just have to sit back and say "I know I'm doing the right things, and eventually the scale will move in the right direction."  Of course, that's assuming we're really doing the "right things".  Sounds like you are on the right track, so just roll with the punches, keep doing what you're doing, and you'll see the results - eventually.  Don't let it get you down.  Instead, celebrate all the things you CAN do now that you COULDN"T do before.
