This is a big weekend

Just to warn everyone this is going to be a BIG and extremely STINKY weekend in GA.

This weekend Chad will be running in his first official 5K WOOOHOOO you go! I will be running the same 5K which has a lot of meaning to me.

First this 5K is to get my wave assignment for the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th.  This is a  10k  with 60K people running and many more that want to. I believe Chad is using this race to get a wave for the Peachtree as well.

Fo me however I realised this race has a bigger meaning.  The charity the race is for is childhood cancer.  Well Last year my cousins daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer, it was surgically removed and a couple weeks ago she completed her last round of Chemo and is currently cancer free.  I knew the cause for the run when I signed up one of the reasons I chose this race. What I did not know was that this saturday will also be her birthday.  So in honor of her I am going all out and shooting for my personal best.

Sorry to call you out Chad but I know you have been nervous about this and you know you will rock this run!

 Hey Paul,

First, great to hear the good report about your cousin!  What a happy birthday for her!  I hope and pray for both her and you, bust it and break you old PR apart!

I will be thinking and praying for you, Chad, the other runners, and especially those they are running in honor or memory of.  Raise a LOT of money so they can do the needed research and find a cure for these vile diseases!

Run Strong, Run Long, Run Fast, Run On!!!

Thank you, Paul!

It will be a great weekend. I am using it as my qualifying time for the Peachtree too. I don't know if you're guaranteed a running number for July 4th or not, but my employer is a sponsor, so they are allowing early registration through 3/14. Let me know if you want me to send you the link. (It's $33 also, don't know if that's discounted or not.)

My brother in law is going to run with/past me and do the 10K. I did 3.1 miles on the Greenway after work yesterday right at 31 minutes. I was moving slowly, and I knew it.

I'm hoping to break 30 minutes on Saturday. I understand there's a half mile in there that's a good little uphill jaunt. Last training run tomorrow, then rest for the big morning!

I have my early reg info from the Atlanta Track Club.

If you do a sub 30 you will beat me, but I haven't really focused on speed as much as I have distance distance.  I have to prove to myself I can go the distances I want before I worry about doing them fast.  10K is july and this fall will probably be a half.

Just have fun with it and don't focus on the number.
