Small but important NSV - Walked 9 Holes Today
First time I've walked nine on the golf course in what, 5 or maybe 10 years; and it's a hilly sucker, too! 10,000 steps on my pedometer is an indication that I wasn't always in the fairway. But I made par on No. 9 - and that will bring me back. Felt great - sore, achey, tired, - great! My regular foursome have been among my biggest supporters on this journey; the other 3 always walk. I'll get to walking 18 in another month or two. This is important to me.... Pop-Pop
Don't underestimate how important this NSV is. That is an amazing accomplishment. I love golf and haven't walked in 10 years because it just made the game unenjoyable. I am looking forward to this summer when I'll be doing what you are doing now. Keep it up and you are correct that you'll be walking the whole 18 before you know it. Bravo!
That's a great NSV, although I kind of agree with Mark Twain, who said "Golf is a good walk spoiled." Maybe it's just the way I play golf, but it sure ruins a good walk in a beautiful setting when I have to constantly look for my ball in the rough, in the water hazards, under any bridges that might be on the course, and sometimes even up in trees...
For a couple of years, I lived next door to a golf course, and they didn't allow play until after the dew had dried, so it was always at least a 1/2 hour after sunrise. I asked for (and received) permission to ride my bike along the cart paths during that 1/2 hour, and it was a great place to ride. I still miss that! But that's probably the best use I ever made of a golf course! LOL
