Another week and I made it...kind of.

Tues: Jog 5 mins, Walk 3 mins, Jog 8 mins, Walk 3 mins, Jog 5 mins
Jogged at 6.6 mph, walked at 3.3.
33:30 mins / 424 cals / 2.75 miles

Thurs: Jog 10 mins, Walk 3 mins, Jog 10 mins
Jogged at 6.6 mph, walked at 3.3
30 mins / 480 cals / 2.73 miles

Sat: Jog 25 mins
Started jogging at 6.6 mph.  Then got tired really quickly and dropped to 5.5 mph for the long haul.  Walked at 3.3.
37 mins / 2.92 miles (Almost 5k!!!) 2.42 miles was actual jogging!
There were about 3 times during the jog that I used the hand rails to support myself while still moving my feet, so that's why I said I 'kind of' made it.  I have work to do before I feel I can actually say I ran for 25 mins.

All in all, a good week.  I got out on the bike a couple times this week for 8+ miles at a time.  I played volleyball for a couple hours, and got my ass handed to me playing a singles tennis match.

On to week 7!

It's a great program to get us moving.  Couch (Potato) to 5K is the basis for the name.

You can find the details here: www.c25k.com

The basis is interval training, walking then running, to get our bodies conditioned to being able to run.  It's a nine week program and each week you'll accomplish something you never thought you could do.  And you quickly notice your heart getting healthier (as a product of your working heart rate during/after the running intervals).

Check it out, and let me know how you're progressing when you get it started.

I just sent you a friend request... I'm starting today (weather permitting) if not, then tomorrow on the treadmiill...

Um... I'm 6'9" 280... Professional treadmills ok for me?  That's all I need is to break one of those bad boys.  But I NEED to start the C25k... I ready the book twice, bought shoes, have the pod casts loaded.. .WHAT OTHER EXCUSES CAN I EXHAUST???

No more excuses, Tony!  The treadmill held me at 300 lbs, so you can't even blame the weather!

Get out there and get started.  You'll be amazed by the progress you can make!

I'm at 303 (down from 411).  I started going to the gym when I was about 350-360, and had no problem with the professional-grade treadmills.  Go for it!
No excuses allowed in this forum!  LOL

There are no excuses.

All it takes is a little commitment and soon you will be rocking your way to the finish of a 5K.

Linkin Park is great running music.
