First Restaurant Meal After Surgery Anxiety
If you eat something that doesn't sit well or if you need to get up and move, excuse yourself and take a little walk to the men's room. One time early on, I had a problem with shrimp. I ended up in the BR and had to 'throw-up" to clear the block. Not fun, but I've learned to be very careful with shrimp.
Like other said above, it is so worth it! The day will come down the line when you can eat or drink what you want. It will just be smaller portions and a half a drink. We post WLS guys are really cheap drunks and dates.
Take your time, enjoy your "new" life with your family, and enjoy the ride! Mike
Good point about the shrimp. That was one of the first things that I ate and it seemed kind of dry going down and I didn't have another bite. I will be careful in the future.
This is a great trip and I am glad that I am on it. I already feel like a million dollars and I am merely 3 weeks out. I love that the post WLS guys are really cheap drunks and dates. LOL. My wife gets a kick out of that.
Thanks for your post.
I stay away from chicken (too dry) and greasy foods.
I enjoy mexican food and chinese food also...but no rice.
Regularly I eat shrimp, prawns, crab and sometimes a razor clam or two.
I'm lucky as I have no lactose intolerance as well.
Remember this, well are not created equal when it comes to what we can tolerate and how much weight we lose in any given month.
As you heal it is wise to only introduce ONE new food at a time.
Good to hear about the other foods. Not that I want to ever pig out again, just want to go out and enjoy the time out with family and friends and just relax.
Good advice with one new food at a time. Thanks!

Wow, for a new guy you're sure doing great!! Can't believe your loss in such a short time.
Just a caution on eating out. I had a bad experience last week when a group of friends went to dinner. I "thought" there wouldn't be a problem and had a chicken breast. It wasn't dry but I either didn't chew it well enough or ate too fast.
Ended up in the rest room trying to clear what felt like a blockage.
Lesson Learned: Chew, chew, chew, and take your time. And, when in doubt, go with something safe like a soup or a salad that has less chance of causing problems.
I had my surgery about a month before you and I know everyone is different but the things you are saying you had a problem with are my go to items. My doctor told me to eat chicken and shrimp and no beef, but all doctors are different too I'm finding out. I have found that mexican is perfect for me and my wife to eat at, we get the fajitas and i eat a lil of everything except the tortilla and it was actually the first time after surgery I felt like i was eating a real meal. Good luck in the future.
