Celebrating NSV!!
I went to the diabetes doc yesterday. He took me off insulin for a three month trial, glimepiride, and cut my metformin dose from 2 - 1000 mg doses per day down to 1 per day!
I have to maintain my morning blood sugar level between 80 - 110 for three months. If I can maintain that plus lose more weigh I can wave goodbye to insulin.
I say, thank the Lord and lapband!

I was fortunate: I stopped my insulin injection and metformin the day before my VSG surgery and I haven't had any blood sugars higher than 105 since - I'm 3.5 mos. post op and diabetes free, sleep apnea free and no more high blood pressure. I'm walking my ass off (just finished 3 miles in my moderately hilly neighborhood) and I feel great. At 65, with a lot more to lose, I'm very happy - sound like you are too. Congrats on what you've done so far - Losing weight (down 85 lbs.as of this morning) is important, but dealing with the other issues is equally important. Good luck!
