Met with my NUT on Monday and she yelled at me for losing too much weight so fast. I have lost 50 lbs in 6 weeks.

She is cute, so if only she had spanked at the same time.

Oh, yeah.  Melissa is a cute little thing!  Was tough for me to be honest about my overeating sitting in front of her during the pre-op phase.

Don't sweat it...Men lose the weight faster than women.  We have a larger muscle structure.  I was losing 1.5 pounds a day...Sometimes 10 pounds a week.  Get your vitamins, protein, and water in and you should be fine.  Start adding some vegetables...cooked usually; spinach, mixed.  Add a small amount of salt to your diet...don't go hog wild.  Maybe some oranges or bananas (both good for potassium) and she'll be eating her words in no time.  What she is concerned about the loss of muscle mass.  It is real ( I know cause it happened to me).  I'm now a weakling.  Use to be I could drive the golf ball about 220 yards with my old clubs...It got down to 180 post WLS.  Also couldn't lift like I use to.  Work on muscle tone for right now...No big heavy lifting for awhile.  After a few more months start hitting the weight more.  That'll help.  Brian

I had my 2 week follup with my surgeon on tuesday and he Mentioned I just set the record for weight loss for his group. I have lost about 60lbs since starting the diet 2 weeks pre-op.

Side note, my NUT is also smoking hot as well. I thought they all were until i found out my beast of a sister-in-law was becoming a Nutristionist and well she is far from hot. Hell I can not figure out who would take nutritional advice from some one like her anway.

I needed to have a revised RNY because I had a staple line disruption with the original surgery.  I had the reviise RNY on 01-21-05 and came back about 6 wks later for a follow-up.  I am manic-depressive and just happened to be in a depression.  The surgeon seemed pleased with my efforts but then either a nurse or nutritionist got hold of me.  I honestly don't know now if I misinterpreted her comments due to my depression, but I felt that she was berating me.  I was pissed and never went back for any follow-up visits.

I asked my shrink to change my meds, but he wouldn't change them until at least 10 months after surgery.  I was already at the maximum dosage of the meds I had been on and would have to be weaned off of them and put on something else.  I wasn't a threat to myself or anyone else but I was lethargic and not in any mood to do anything.  Losing weight was the furthers thing from my mind then, but the surgery forced me to eat properly at meals.  I didn't resume snacking for several months.

Once you get well, you'll be in a position to inform others of the benefits of WLS.  You may even want to contact doctors or your county health dep at that time because it sounds like many people want to promote band surgery for people who aren't even morbidly obese.  You may be able to tell them to be sure to inform prospective patients of the positives and the risks involved with the surgery.
