C25K Check-in
Knocked out week three:
90 second jog (6.6 mph)
90 second walk (3.3 mph)
3 minute jog (6.0-6.6 mph)
3 minute walk (3.3 mph)
Repeated twice.
Shins were hurting a little bit. Been told that that might have something to do lacing my shoes too tightly. Will try something different this week.
When I was getting into the shower after one of my runs, I actually noticed a visible quadricep muscle on my left leg!!! Look out Mr. Olympia!!

I had to back off on the C25K because I was hurting my knees - guess I'm still a bit too heavy for the running. But I know what you mean about the quads... All the treadmill work, Nordic Trac, and weight lifting has me starting to feel actual muscle, and just a hint of quads showing through the flab. Kind of exciting, and a really good feeling.
Keep up the great work - I for one am proud of what you've accomplished, and you are inspiring me to get back to it as soon as my knees can handle it. Still want to "run" the 5K Hearwalk in April... We'll see if I can do it by then!

Dude you are a running machine! Let me just say that your speeds are better than mine, but right now I am shooting for distance with a consistent time. you do know at this rate you are going to be ready for the Peachtree in July .
As for the aches and pains. Are you wearing running shoes? After this morning I would highly suggest that if you haven't you hit Big Peach Tree Running or Fleet Feet and get your stride analyzed and fitted for the right type of shoe for you. I did this Saturday and I had the best run ever this morning with 0 pain.
Please no pics of you in a speedo flexing your new found muscles!

Yes, I went to Big Peach a week ago and got fitted for some shoes with a little inside support. They have great service, and getting a good pair of shoes for $90 seems fair...didn't want to spend $150+.
Still have enough weight to make it tough on my joints and back. Working through it though.

Nike LunarGlide+2. Thought I couldn't get into Nikes because I have a wide foot...well, it turns out, I used to have a wide foot, and could fit into a D width just fine now.
They are really comfortable, and feel supportive. I'm taking care of them like they're made of gold, so hopefully they'll last a good while.
