Milestone Rewards
I saw the post where Paul C. said he was going to go sky diving when he busted under 200 pounds. That got me to thinking about some things I'd like to do, and haven't because of weigh. I'm going to list a few of the things I'm going to reward myself with as I meet goals. (I found this a bit difficult at first because normally my reward for any met goal is a couple of fat cheeseburgers coupled with a banana split.)
My list (I be interested in seeing yours):
Under 250 - I'm going to talk a kayak course. Always wanted to give it a try.
Under 225 - Ride a horse. Been a loooong time....
Under 200 - I'm going to buy a really nice blue suit
P.S. - Paul C. jumping out of the plane is something I might consider...not completely adverse to the ideal, but going to have to give it some thought.

My first was to fly without needing to use a seatbelt extension. Actually, I was using two extensions after cramming myself into those narrow seats. It was great to fly without using the extensions. And, I think it might be good karma that I left the two no-longer-needed extensions on a plane belonging to the same airline that I stole them from several years ago.

Regarding your hope of going kayaking, I've enjoyed fla****er kayaking when I was thinner. I had an Aqaterra tandem kayak as my last boat because it could hold up to 450 lbs. I think I used it right up to that point. It was a sit-in boat but it had a wide and long open ****pit. The seats which were molded out of resin ( or some plastic) folded for easy transport. I think it was 12 ft long and weighed between 60-65 lbs.
If I were going to get a single seat kayak, I'd look to get the lightest weight one I could afford. Luckily, there is a large dealer in NJ that allows people to test ride any boat they are thinking of buying. You may also want to look at sit-on top kayaks. go to www.paddling.net to sign up for a free newsletter about canoeing and kayaking. It includes contests to win boats, a buyers' guide, and a lot of useful info.

Thanks for the tips!
I'm planning to sign up for a kayaking course in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. There are a number of them around the area that run between $70 - $120 for 4 to 6 hours of training. Most of them have a number of models and sizes of kayaks that they'll let you try out. I think that'll help in deciding which fits the best for me.
I live about a mile away from a 250 acre reservior - I'm hoping to get out there this summer!
Besides just the fun of the experience of being on the water, I think the rowing will be a big help in tightening up the tummy muscles.

When I am around 250 I am going to start taking Scuba Lessons. When I am 200 I am going to Take the family and go scuba diving somewhere in the carribean. And that is also important as I always said I would never leave the USA. i will also go horse back riding as it has been years and years since I have done that and I miss it.
On my Year anniversary My wife and I are going to a fancy restaurant dressing up in the fancy clothes and all that jive here in Austin.
There is so much I want to do that it is getting more and more easy to do now. Like I was born again! :D

I'm a pilot, but haven't flown in a long time. So many of my "rewards" are centered around aviation-related activities...
1) 100 lbs lost (today!) - Travel to Lakeland, FL to attend the Sun-N-Fun fly-in.
2) 300 - Take an RV trip with my wife. (May combine 1&2)
3) 275 - Travel to Oskosh, WI for the world's largest aviation fly-in (Airventure Oskosh).
4) 250 - Start flying again (refresher lessons)
