NSV - no longer a B&T pants guy!
For the past several years, I've been wearing pants from JC Penney's Big & Tall collection. Their Harbor Bay khakis have a "comfort waistband" that has a good bit of stretch - basically, you can buy a size smaller than you would otherwise. That way, the seat and legs aren't quite as baggy. Anyway, my last purchase was size 44s, in their "relaxed fit" style. Yesterday, I finally gave in and went to buy some more, since my friends at work have been commenting on how "baggy" my clothes are.
So yesterday I went back to JCP B&T to update my wardrobe. I couldn't find any pants that fit worth a darn in the B&T section, so I wandered over to the regular men's section. To keep this post a reasonable length, I was able to purchase "normal size" size 42 trousers (and jeans) that were "regular fit" - and they look amazingly good. I was so inspired that I tried on a couple of shirts, and - drum roll please - learned that I'm no longer wearing a 5X, nor even a 4X, but that a 3X fits really well. So I bought several shirts to color-coordinate with the pants (including a pink one - not sure how often I'll wear that one - LOL) because I went with colors other than khaki, green, or black this time... Taking more risks is part of the whole process, right?
Looking forward to the next time I need shirts - I should be shopping in the regular men's section for those next time around!
I was just chatting online with Jeff Gudin, and we were both expressing the sentiment that we wished we had done this WLS a lot earlier in our lives. And if I had to rewind back to before WLS, and went into it knowing with absolute certainty that I would only lose as much as I've lost to date, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I feel so much better, can do so many things I could not do before, and my health is so much better overall - it would have been worth it just to get to this point. However, the battle is not over, and I've got a lot more work to do.
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and inspiration, and the occasional dose of reality. You guys are all amazing, and I consider myself lucky to have this place to stay in touch with all of you. I'm so grateful that I found this support group, and that the OH founders had the vision to create this place. I don't know what I would do without it!
It really is awesome when you start to realize and see just how much things are changing.
I think we should crate a new Mens Forum rule that any guy who admits to buying pink clothes is then required to post a pic of them wearing that outfit .
I did have my fair share of pink shirts but that was in the 80s.
