Breakfast Ideas and Protein Question

Today I started a food journal again.  I haven't done this for a long time. What I am realizing is that I have only had 8 oz of protein today.  It is 11:25 now.  I am on my second "large" cup of coffee with sugar and creamer and am still exhausted.

My first question:  How much protein should I be getting in per day?  I have been post op for a little over 1 year.

My second question:  What do you guys eat for breakfast?  I have found that I still have problems with anything other than runny eggs, and runny eggs do not fit into my morning routine, being that I am waking up 3 6-year olds and a wife to get them ready for the day and getting myself ready for work.  Typically, I have to eat my breakfast at work.

Thanks in advance.

Because of my monring activity I eat mainly carbs for breakfast. Things such as Wheat toast, Whole Wheat English muffins or waffles.  I put some peanutbutter on them for a bit of protein.  After my workouts I do a nice protein drink to really start my day.

Now I am going to go against the norm and say that if you can pack you day with protein snacks and other meals then don't worry about it for Breakfast.  Also remember you don't have to eat traditional breakfast foods for breakfast.  How about a cheese stick wrappen in some deli meat? You have to do what works for you.

Also have you tried yogurt or greek yogurt?

Thanks!  I enjoy my carb/pb breakfast, but you mentioned wheat toast, english muffins and waffles.  I didn't even think about other types carbs, some that would be better for me.  Maybe that flat bread.  Mostly, I just want something to put my pb on.  A protein shake would also be a good additive.  Though, I will need to wait until the tax check comes in the mail.   I like the Nectar Cappaccino mix. Yum-o w/milk.  Not so much with water.  Problem is that the milk constipates me.

I have to have breakfast.  My body craves it first thing in the morning.  I have tried cheese sticks w/meat, but not for a while.  At that time, i was a few months out from surgery and the meat was causing me some problems. Now, I should be fine.

I like yogurt, but not the greek type, of any brand.

Breakfast has been a protein shake since my surgery. Food just has never worked for me in the morning.

What protein shake do you like?  The only one that I like is the Nectar capaccino.  Most of the fruity ones have a tang that I don't really care for.

I buy one at gnc online called iso93. I get the unflavored and mix with diet v8 or get the chocolate and add diet hot chocolate mix to get the flavor right. I used to get isopure but found this one is just as good quality wise and a lot less money. They do the buy 1 get 1 half off a lot on this one and free shipping over $100 and allow gold card on it. I can usually get 20 pounds (284 servings) for around $150 bucks.

Thank you.  I will check that out.  Maybe they will have a sample or something at GNC.  There is just so many to choose from, I would rather take someones word for it, before I waste any money on it.

everyone has a different opinion but for a guy .5g per pound is a good# to maintain or lose weight. I get 300+ everyday but am in the adding muscle back stage.

I tried the pure protein for breakfast and just had a hard time with energy about halfway through.  I do the protein afterwards.
