Getting there.....
Well Im farther in the process than I anticipated. I did my homework, the Bariatric Center wanted documention...they got documention. I requested medical records from everyone and anyone I could think of for the past 10 years, every clinic, specialist, doctor, hositial, etc. I got a letter from the YMCA that I have been a member for the past 2 years, got letter from Nutri Systems that I bought food from them 3 years ago, even got a copy of an old workmans comp evaluation. Anything I could think of. Appartently my file is fairly thick and she described about 6 inches of paperwork. (not sure I should be proud, but what the hey, it works) I put out almost 30 requests for info to be sent to the Bariatric Center. So checked that off my list. I started weigh****chers....am 11 weeks into...however, appartently I already met my 6 months supervised weight loss after a review of my medical record....Im not so sure of that....had lots of appts, but going to keep attending weigh****chers until I get the final ok from the insurance....primary doctor started me on some weight loss medications that is not doing too much of anything...that is ok...only need 8 weeks for the insurance....another something that was already done but just trying again I guess....had my psych eval done today, uneventful, now the 2 visits with the dietician schedule...I should be completed with everything by 02/22 then be ready to have everything to submit to the insurance company. I did alot of work so far preparing....but doing my homework and reading these posts sure helped, thank you guys! I hope it pays off. I am looking forward to being off my diabetic medications!
I knew that my post sounded stupid but that was a strange BMI. I encourage everyone to put a little history or a bit of their story in their profile. Personally, I originally looked for other men who were supermorbidly obese because that's how I started out. There weren't as many people on OH then, but I still looked and found men with situations similar to mine.
There are probably many men who start their downward journey at your current weight and who can relate to you. Of course, we all relate to each other as men here. And, I fully expect some men to stop coming here once they have lost their weight and no longer need our support. I just ask them to post from time to time to encourage newer men on this weight loss journey because it's a multi-step process of learning to eat properly, to get adequate exercise, and to face life without having to use food or eating as a buffer.
