Testing for c-diff

I have had an ongoing diarrhea issue since about 14 days post-op.  In partnership with my surgeon's office we have tried everything -

    - eliminating all dairy from my diet

    - eliminating all sugar from the my diet - not that I was getting much to begin with

    - elminating protein supplements - due to the minimal amount of lactose in the Whey protein

    - adding Benefiber to my diet

    - all of the above combined together

Nothing has worked to eliminate the situation.  The surgeon is now running tests to see if I may have contracted a c-diff bacteria - not common, but a definite possiblity.

Everything else is going very well.  In general I feel really good, just plagued by this 'crappy' diarrhea issue - pun intended.

Anyone else have any thoughts??

I have noticed that you have been dealing closely with this problem since you first had it.  Hopefully your problem will be quickly resolved.  I assume you have not gone back to work.  I can't imagine dealing with your problem and any expectations at work.  But, then again,  not being at work may cause additional anxieties.  I didn't face any of these problems since I was already retired on disability when I had my WLS.

Hope you have an understanding boss/coworkers if you have to run out on them to get to the john before you have a "laundry emergency"!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Thanks guys!

Goods news is that preliminary results have come back negative.  Bade news is that they still have no idea what is causing it!

They will have final, more definitive results in a few days.

I hope you get things solved soon. I'm surprised you are not dehydrated.
Have you tried eating sawdust? That is, to put a little presto in your LOGS?

I'm not a Dr. but you do need something to bind your looseness up. How about your stomach bacteria? Have you tried taking Probiotics?

Well the CRAP gods are giving me a good spanking for trying to be funny with the presto log scenario. I now have the runs too!

A good probiotic such as Primal Defense is suppose to help with diarrhea issues. Also even though you might not have C-diff you can have a bacterial overgrowth due to surgery, you should have your surgeon prescribe a round of antibiotics (such as flagyl) to see if it helps.
