I am 5 weeks post sleeve and get cold very easily and can't seem to get warm.  I am losing weight quickly and not eating very many carbs.

This make any sense?

Long underwear is the answer.  I used to always be hot from all the insulation and extra work of carrying around that weight.  Now I am cold and love the heat of the summer.

Welcome to the losers bench. This is just one of the more common side effects from dropping the pounds. I would like to say it gets better but for me it hasn't.

Just a heads up but soon your ass will start hurting just from sitting.

Yes, cold all the time.  Think of a skinny bear...You don't see many around.  It is the biggest issue post WLS for me.  I usually sleep in a different room from my wife.  I use my daughter's room since she moved out.  I put on the electric heater at night and the electric blanket.  Also the first few years post op for Christmas, anniversaries and birthdays I would ask for thermal underwear and warm clothing.  I buy really really expensive socks for that reason.  You may want to wait till the summer for the ski sales on socks.  I'm ready to move to AZ or Mexico today!!  Brian  PS  Layer your clothing and use the dryer to heat up the clothes you're going to wear!!

Bubba,

You's preaching to the choir!

My hands and feet get so cold I have to run warm water over them or get in the tub.  I've gone to wearing gloves when I drive to keep my hands from not getting cold from the steering wheel.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

My problem is that once I get REALLY cold, the only thing that seems to help is a hot shower...  So I've learned to keep a lightweight blanket near my easy chair, and grab it the minute I start feeling chilled.  Sometimes, it still doesn't help though...  But hey, it's a small price to pay, right?

I am always cold cold cold.  I live in Chicago and this is the first year out of 4 years that I can't tolerate the cold.  Before when i was a bit hefty, I would always be super hot, now,  I have to use my heat on full blast.  The doctor said that this is normal after a substanial amount of weight loss

Ditto what everyone else has said. Very common problem after WLS. My side of the bed is layered with a sheet, blanket and TWO comforters.

Four of us at work have had RNY surgery this year. All of us are wearing sweaters around the office and cranking up space heaters.

I'm always wrapped in a blanket while watching TV. I've never felt this cold before in my life.

At almost three years out, I may be more tolerent to the cold, or I am just accustomed to dressing to feel warmer now.

Thanks everyone!  I guess I will warm up my feet on my wife's legs from now on!

Feels strange after sweating after every bit of exertion.
