My wife uses very light rye bread 9whoe grain & no white flour along with creamy style peanut butter.  I makes a quick easy and fortified sandwich.  And, she feeling like she has eaten something when she is done,  She has no trouble with 1 1/2 slices of rye bread if the calories are correct.  I just don't like peanut butter..  My preferred snack is string cheese or one the Syntrax sugar free and fat free powdered proteins that can be mixed without a blender--that is,,you wupt the powder in a glass, add water, and then stir with the spoon.   The syntrax flavors tenerally taste goo. and come in a variety of flavors.  I'm one of the few people               I know  who can use my way fo eating addicing foods to how I eat thid powdered protein.    I just eat the protein straidht out of a small jar or medicine jar.  I pre-measure how may ounces 9dry measure by weight) are in a scoop of the pow eat multiple of that.  I may have the equivalent of 1, 2. or even. scoops of protein posder throughout the day.  I make sure that I drink dnough fluids.  I can sip my fluid r qurements as needed.

Although I do have more to say, I'm not saying anymore because I'm overwhelmed by visual problems.  Bob

I like to carry the "mini" Babybel cheeses or string cheese.  Both are "individually wrapped" and travel fairly well.  Try to find the low-fat ("light") ones if you can.

There are a couple of protein bars that I really like, also.  The "Pure Protein" brand is pretty good, and the "Zone Perfect" bars are amazingly good.  Both have good protein content and stay well below the threshold of sugar that could cause problems for RNYers.  And both are sold at Sam's (among other places).  Of course, at Sam's you have to buy in slightly larger volumes, and you may want to try them somewhere else before committing to that quantity.  GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, and those kind of places seem to have a good supply of both bars.  (But be careful - the Pure Protein ones come in two sizes, and the larger one may be too many calories to be a "snack".)

I've also read about a snack sold under the label "Special Cheese"...  I haven't tried them yet, but am planning to shortly.  Their website is just "specialcheese.com".  One of the posters on this forum had them featured on his blog, and they seem to be very popular among the WLS crowd.

Moist jerky, pepperoni, cheese, protein bars.
If you can take a "cold sack" I'd pack a container of mixed fruit and cottage cheese and a premixed protein drink. Sip on your protein while the others are downing the beer and wine :-)

You could order a bowl of chili too.

Good luck and above all enjoy your time with your friends!

hey man,

I like the super whey protein shots. Only 3oz and 26g of protein. about a 1.50 a tube at walmart. Easy to carry as they are small. here is a link.

Just bring stuff from home...Yogurt, cottage cheese, plain nuts, tuna or egg salad...Explain to the tournament directors you have a medical condition.  If they object to your food on the site...Scream Americans With Disabilities Act...That'll shut them up!!  Pace yourself...You can even get tired doing a dart tournament...Sit or lie down when and where you can.  Enjoy

All of the above are great suggestions!  Love the low fat baby bell and string cheese.  Also usually carry a bagie full of nuts and raisins.  like the Pure Protein bars Jim mentioned...I get mine at Costco.  Atkins protein bars are also pretty good...best price is usually Walmart.

As I am able to do a little more carbs now with my running, I have also been getting the packs of peanut butter and ritz crackers.  Do watch those as the carbs are a little higher.

Have a ball at your tourny!
