No More Big and Tall Clothes!

On Thursday, I bought six shirts sized XL. I haven't worn an extra large shirt for probably ten years!

On Friday, I notified Casual Male XL, B&T Direct, Rochester Big and Tall, etc, that I no longer want to receive their emails (because I no longer need to buy my clothes from the big guy retailers).

Also on Friday, I cleared out about half my closet, packing up all my 3X and 4X clothes (and some of my 2X), and my 44" and 46"  waist pants & jeans, and dropped them off at Goodwill.

One of the things that I hated about being big was having to shop at those big and tall stores. It is SO GREAT to be able to walk into a "normal" store and buy regular-guy clothes again!

Have a great day!

That's really great, Dude...  I'm SO looking forward to that.  Imagine what it will be like to find clothes you actually like, in the colors you want, etc...  Excellent work on your part.  Congratulations!

Dude,

Can appreciate your sentiments at cleaning out your closet  but hope you saved one piece of clothing as a reminder from where you started.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Congrats Dude. As someone who hated shopping for clothes pre-surgery, I can tell you that it is a lot more fun, not to mention cheaper, when you get into sizes that are more readily available.

Dude - CONGRATULATIONS!  What a rush and great feeling!  Like Ken said, it is now kinda "fun" to go shopping in the regular stores.  I've been finding great deals on the clearance and sales racks. Do try to get the sales and don't buy too much.  You'll end up giving those away as well as you continue to loose.  Enjoy!  Mike

Same here, I went to Aeropostale, American Eagle and went crazy, I just tried on a few things to see if i could wear them.  I can actually fit into a 38 jean, and they are still very loose and I  racked up on xl tshirts.  Its so nice to wear stylish modern clothing,, its an undescribable feeling

I can  appreciate your feelings regarding most Big and Tall Men's shops.  we have 2 in our area which are exceptional.  There's Boyd''s in Philly which caters to the rich athletes right down to having valet parking.  I've never been there and doubt that I ever will be.  The other store is Frank's Big and Tall which is a small chain of Big and Tall stores that are all located in NJ.  I had been going to their Trenton store for the past 30 years but they just closed that store.  Now I'll have to drive about 30-40 miles across the State to use one of their stores.

I'll miss the Trenton Store.  Even though I only went there about once a year, my usual salesman knew my name and he could usually guess my current sizes the minute I walked into the store.  I doubt that their are few clothiers around the country that provide this type of service.

Unfortunately, I lost a lot of excess weight in my upper body fairly.  But, due to severe lymphedema inmy right leg, I wear sweat pants.  Regular pants are simply not cut to get up past the swelling in my thigh.  I can put smaller wisted underwear, shorter shorts (athletic shorts), and bathing trunks.  But I can not wear walking shorts like Bermuda shorts nor regular pants.  I guess if I were as rich as someone like Orson Welles when he was at his heaviest, I could have them mad by a tailor.

Since I have had this condition for many years, my family is used to seeing me at Church, weddings, and funerals in my sweat pants.  I'll wear a sports coat with them but all I can afford for pants are the sweat pants.  Bob
