How did I ever do it?

This morning, I had to carry two 40-lb bags of salt pellets from the garage to our well house to put in the water softener (we have a well that produces VERY hard water).  Anyway, as I was struggling to carry 80 pounds of salt for about 100 feet, it struck me that that's exactly how much weight I've lost since I started this journey!  I used to carry this much "extra weight" around ALL THE TIME!  No wonder I never had any energy, was tired and cranky all the time, and could barely make it up the stairs even once!

Makes me all the more excited to see what I can do when I lose the rest of my "excess baggage"...  Heck, I might even be able to leap small buildings in a single bound!  (OK - so I'll settle for just being able to "leap" down from our porch...)  Just thought I'd share my "WOW" moment...

Aren't those little WOW moments the best.  Those are the things that 'skinny' people just don't get!

Congratulations to you!  Keep on celebrating the little moments, that is what makes this all worthwhile.

Happy New Year - Michael

My least favorite home chore is carrying those d*** salt bags into the basement from my car in the garage. I've always hated that.

I put a salt bag in the water softener on Friday, and I too made the connection between the 40 lbs of salt and the 50ish lbs I've lost since starting this journey six months ago. I'm amazed that I was even able to function carrying around that excess weight everyday.

I've got another 1.5 bags of salt or so to lose.

That's part of why it's so exciting for me...  I've lost two "bags" and will need to lose a bit over 3 more to get to goal weight.  Think what it will be like when I'm no longer carrying FIVE bags of salt around with me all the time!  I look at guys like Grandpa-G and think "Will I ever be able to get there?"  Then I stop and realize that I CAN do it, but I have to do it one day at a time, one meal at a time, one bite at a time...

That's right Jim - you and every other guy that posts or lurks on this site can do it.  BUT, it does take one at a time...one day, one meal, one bit, one step, one ounce at a time.

It is not easy.  Any any frick'n A H who makes the comment "oh you took the easy way out with WLS" deserves a but whomp'n or at least a couple bags of salt thrown at them! LOL...

Just keep eating right and exercising.  Don't get frustrated when you hit a stall, and you will, we all do.  I really liked the advice from someone a few days ago, we should all forget the scales and only get on them when we go for our Dr visits.

Keep up the great work and every time you load up tha****er treatment think about what you're not carrying every day, hour, and minute!

Yes YOU CAN do it!

Mike
