What A Successful Christmas

I went home to the South for Christmas.  Every Christmas  my family prepares an enormous amount of food.  I didn't know how I would be able to handle being around all the Southern Dishes., I thought i'd be craving everything on the table.  I did very well. I had a very small bowl of butter beans, and green beans and everything else looked absolutely gross to me.  And I lost 6 more lbs while visiting.  The compliments of family on my appearance was very reassuring that i'm doing something right after this surgery.

When my neighbors moved here from Virginia, they brought Southern Hospitality with them.  And, his wife and mother made authentic weet-potato pies for everyone in the neighborhood.  They got plenty of thanks but no food in return.  I guess they missed the South for a while.

Even tough I used to like everything smothered in butter, I love Paula Dean but Know I couldn't touch most of what she cooks.

You did well.  Maybe you can mentally link comfort foods with artery disease, heart attacks, and strokes.  It may help with your resolve not to eat comfort foods.  Bob
